What are the responsibilities and job description for the GRADE 6 SCIENCE TEACHER position at Hoosac Valley Middle School?
This position requires a dynamic individual to teach Middle School Science. The ideal candidate will hold licensure in Middle School Science from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and will possess a strong content background, solid classroom management skills, and excellent organizational skills. Previous teaching experience and familiarity with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks are helpful.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Plan, organize, and implement high-quality science instruction aligned with state standards and district goals.
Establish and maintain a classroom environment that supports active learning and student engagement.
Design and deliver lessons using varied instructional strategies, including demonstration, hands-on experiments, project-based learning, and digital tools.
Integrate science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) content to promote interdisciplinary learning.
Assess students' academic progress and social development; maintain accurate and timely records and generate progress reports.
Implement accommodations and modifications to support the success of all learners, including those with special education needs and English learners.
Fulfill professional obligations including attendance, supervision duties, communication with families, and participation in staff, department, and team meetings.
Engage in meaningful, ongoing professional development aligned with school and district priorities.
Perform other duties as assigned by the school principal, Director of Curriculum and/or the Superintendent of Schools.
