What are the responsibilities and job description for the Group Home Assistant Manager position at Hope Christian Services?
Hope Christian Services serves more than 110 individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Founded in the spirit of Christian love, the residential facility opened in December 1972. It expanded into the community in 1986 with the development of group homes, where residents enjoy supervised supported living. In 1992 the organization advanced its philosophy of providing home-like settings for residents with the construction of on-site lodges. Hope Christian Services currently operates 13 facilities in Bergen and Passaic Counties and is seeking qualified candidates for the Assistant Group Home Manager role. As the Assistant Manager, you will work together with the manager to supervise the group home. The right candidate will be able to multi-task, have exceptional organizational skills, as well as excellent written and verbal communication.
Job Responsibilities and Qualifications:
- Assist/train residents in the development of self-help and socialization skills
- Transport residents to daily program/work as required or needed
- Accompany residents todoctor appointments and ensure proper follow-up
- Attend annual ISP meetings for residents ensuring accurate and up to date information
- Assist in planning recreation and leisure time activities, including community outings
- Prepare menu and do food shopping (encourage maximum resident participation).
- Administer and check medication/prescriptions and assist with preparing monthly medication administration records
- Cooperate with HCS and the license and Department of Human Services staff in any inspection or investigation
- Able to lift 35 pounds independently
Education, Experience, and Other Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Must attend all required trainings and HCS Inservices
- Experience working with individuals with development and intellectual disabilities
- Must consent to a criminal background check and be deemed qualified by the Department of Human Services prior to hire
- Must consent to have name checked against the Central Registry of Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities and Child Abuse Registry Information
