MINISTRY SUMMARY
The Facilities Lead of HOPE Church will be a person who loves the Lord and is responsible for assuring successful operation and function of HOPE Church’s building and grounds in support of our mission. The person understands how safety, custodial care, and recruiting volunteers in these roles can advance the Kingdom of God.

MINISTRY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties are normal for this position.  These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive.  Other duties may be required and assigned.
  • Ensure a clean and maintained HOPE Church property, including indoor and outdoor spaces.
    • Gathering Spaces (Worship Center, Connection Center, Great Hall, HOPE Commons, Staff/Team Center, Children’s Center, and all Bathrooms)
    • During Winter months – keep doors free from snow and ice
    • During Summer months – lawn care for entire property
  • Purchase supplies and maintain appropriate inventory.
  • Maintain appropriate schedule for opening and closing of HOPE facilities
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with vendors.
  • Meet with facility inspectors and help to resolve any deficiencies.
  • Assess system breakdowns and determine if the kind of repairs that are required can be done by ourselves (through staff or volunteers) or if it needs to be done by professional services.
  • Obtain general understanding of heating and cooling systems, building maintenance, general carpentry, plumbing, custodial skills.
  • Effectively communicate with HOPE staff, keeping them informed of any issues (Interpersonal, Work-Related, Maintenance, or Custodial Care)
  • Offer input during budget season to Director of Generosity and Operations as to potential income/expense changes.
  • Communicate with the Facility and Maintenance Associates and Volunteers about responsibilities for church-wide custodial and maintenance projects such as worship practice/services, special events, weddings, funerals, workdays, and other functions at HOPE Church.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Commitment to Jesus Christ, His church, and excellence in His service. This includes maintaining personal Godly values.
  • Agree with the doctrine, mission, vision, and values of HOPE Church.
  • Possess familiarity, training, experience, skills, and gifts in a variety of ministry settings related to the specific ministry area.   
  • Be able to respond to crisis situations in a calm, gracious, and confident manner.
  • Experience in recruiting and training volunteers.
  • Be able to relate to people in a variety of settings, demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills (i.e.  groups, individuals, all ages, etc.)
  • Be able to communicate effectively with staff, church members, people in the community, and others.
TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT
The Facilities Lead will receive guidance, instruction, and support from the Director of Generosity and Operations.

It is expected that the Facilities Lead to take part in recommended training and development activities.  It is assumed that training and learning will be an ongoing part of this staff position.
 
TIME COMMITMENT
Full-time position: 40 hours per week Monday - Sunday; an understanding that more or less hours could be needed during certain time periods.
 
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
Responsible for: Facilities volunteers in assigned ministry area.
Responsible to: Director of Generosity and Operations
Works closely with: The Facilities staff, HOPE Church staff, and a variety of church volunteers and lay leadership.
 
LENGTH OF SERVICE
The length of service will be for an indefinite period of time. 
 
HOPE STAFF TEAM EXPECTATIONS
  • Be present and/or participate in weekly worship services.
  • Function as part of a team; working to maintain and develop relationships within the staff, to exercise care in disagreements, and to be supportive of one another on the staff team. Any concerns should be communicated in a timely and biblical manner.
  • Maintain regular hours determined in cooperation with immediate supervisor.
  • Attend the following meetings:
    • Regular staff meetings
    • Staff, council, or ministry division retreats as requested by the Lead Pastor or Executive Pastor
  • To live as a part of the community of HOPE Evangelical Covenant Church.
  • To prepare and submit an annual report to the Church Council/Board, if necessary. 
  • Because we value the teachings of Matthew 6:19-20, it is expected that all HOPE Church staff give a tithe of their income to the ministry of HOPE Church.
  • To be supportive of the Mission, Vision, Values, and general spirit of HOPE Evangelical Covenant Church.
  • To maintain appropriate confidentiality in all personal, corporate, and financial matters.
  • To assist all the staff in maintaining an atmosphere that is friendly and above reproach. This includes working to protect the reputation of each of the staff and the entire church.
  • Provide leadership and operations to specific areas of ministry.
  • Because HOPE has a high volunteer ethic it is expected that specific attention will be given to cultivate volunteers in the areas of ministry and responsibility.
  • Coordinate and communicate ministry plan and activities with other staff to ensure a coordinated work and a team approach.
  • Not performing these duties or meeting the expectations may result in evaluation of the position and potential termination.
  • If requested to surrender the staff position, do so in such a way as to not damage the reputation, ministry, and unity of HOPE Church.
