Job Description
The financial specialist works specifically with client accounts. This position is responsible for accurately reconciling bank statements and keeping files updated. The specialist will perform cash handling functions (deposits, withdrawals, cash advances, payments, transfers, check cashing, etc.) and accurately manage cash logs, supported individual loans, and repayments. The financial specialist will be responsible for filing and/or coping all mail, bills, and related monthly paperwork for Supported Individuals in a timely and accurate manner work. The specialist will work with the Operations team to provide necessary items and services for Supported Individuals, including large item orders and online grocery delivery purchases. The specialist must use Therap for online documentation of funds used in care of individuals supported.
Financial Specialist Essential job functions & requirements**
- Be at least 18 years of age or older.
- Have a high school diploma or high school equivalency course of study (GED/HSEC)
- Have the skills and ability to work successfully with the special needs of the people we serve.
- Have effective problem-solving skills, as well as excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Professional oral and written communication skills, a professional phone presence, and comfortable and accurate in speaking with multiple regulatory agencies about Supported Individuals and their finances.
- Self-starter who is detail-oriented and able to manage competing priorities.
- Able to be flexible with rotating priorities and multiple due dates.
- Have the ability to maintain rapport with Supported Individuals, DDA management, and Bank management staff.
- Able to pass a criminal background check with the State of Washington and maintain clearance during tenure of employment.
- Comfortable asking for help and receiving direction, along with working independently.
- Consistently reports to work on time prepared to perform duties of position.
Financial Specialist Technical Skills & Job Duties **
- Proficient in using MS Office (MS Excel and MS Word, in particular).
- Have the ability to reconcile cash, EBT, and gift card ledgers for Supported Individuals.
- Have the ability to accurately reconcile bank statements and keep files updated on an as needed up to daily basis.
- Performs cash handling functions (deposits, withdrawals, cash advances, payments, transfers, check cashing, etc.) and manage cash logs with accuracy, along with the Supported Individual loans and repayments.
- A working knowledge of Quicken and Adobe preferred, as well as familiarity of accounting software.
