DESCRIPTION
The Middle School Art Teacher is responsible for providing comprehensive art education to middle school students, fostering creativity, self-expression, and aesthetic appreciation through various artistic mediums and techniques. The teacher may be required to demonstrate artistic techniques, provide individualized instruction, and facilitate group projects. Additionally, the teacher may collaborate with other educators, attend department meetings, and participate in art-related events and exhibitions as part of their responsibilities.
GENERAL DUTIES (May not include all duties performed)
- Develop and implement art curriculum aligned with state standards and educational objectives.
- Teach students fundamental art principles, techniques, and processes using various mediums such as drawing, painting, sculpture, and digital media.
- Introduce students to art history, cultural traditions, and contemporary art movements through classroom discussions, presentations, and hands-on activities.
- Encourage students to explore their creativity, develop their artistic skills, and express their unique perspectives and ideas.
- Assess student artwork using a variety of methods, including critiques, portfolio reviews, and exhibitions.
- Provide constructive feedback and guidance to students to help them improve their artistic abilities and conceptual understanding.
