What are the responsibilities and job description for the Residential Technician - NIGHT SHIFT position at Horizon Behavioral Health?
Hours: Tull-time (37.5 hours per week)
NIGHT SHIFT: Three (3) shifts per week, working 6:00 pm to 6:30 am (12.5 hours each)
Location: Lynchburg and Amherst, VA
$1000 Hiring Bonus – This position is offering a $1,000 hiring bonus, with $500 paid upon successful completion of hiring requirements and the balance of $500 paid at 12 months with satisfactory job performance. This hiring bonus is limited to new hires only, or otherwise, individuals not having been employed with Horizon up to 1 year from the date the application is received.
Providing care for our small community of individuals with intellectual disabilities depends on the best care and the safest practices. All of our health professional providing direct care receive a health check daily upon arriving on site, and we are following all guidelines set forth related to communicable disease health and safety procedures.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Residential Technician focuses on supporting an individual’s progress toward goals that are identified as meaningful by individuals and their support resources and provides support for the overall health and safety of the individuals. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and Direct Support Provider (DSP) skills are highly desired.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or GED.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is required.
- CNA certification is preferred, but not required.
- Valid driver’s license is required.
RELATED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge and ability to use personal protective equipment in a manner that is compliant with standard precautions and safety expectations.
- Ability to safely assist individuals with all aspects of physical management including equipment use, safe lifting, and physical assistance.
- Ability to lift and transfer consumers up to an average of 50 to 80 pounds.
- Ability to participate in and successfully pass behavioral intervention training, including both verbal de-escalation skills and physical skills techniques to be utilized with consumers as needed.
- Able to respond quickly to correct situations deemed to be hazardous, especially to consumers.
- Knowledge of electronic health records and documentation standards as required by the program.
- Regular attendance at training and Horizon meetings may require travel to a variety of Horizon sites.
- Knowledge and ability to operate a computer, electronic time sheet, and other software/systems used by Horizon.
- Willing and available to work modified schedules (weekends, holidays, etc.) as required.
- Ability to drive and must possess a valid driver’s license.
