MEDICAL ASSISTANT - BEHAVIORAL HEALTH
Position Title: Medical Assistant
Department: Horizon Health - Paris
Reports To: Outpatient BH Clinic Manager
Supervises: None
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Qualifications: Current state certification as a certified nursing assistant preferred. Possesses basic computer skills, interest in healthcare. Maintains current CPR certification. Ability to work variable hours. Ability to demonstrate appropriate clinical skills. Possesses ability to perform complex and varied tasks in a fast-paced, changing work environment, subject to interruptions and stress.
Position Summary:
Communicates with and assists in the direct care of patients and families. Ensure the timely flow of patients and assists medical providers to provide optimal care to patients of all age groups including the physical and mentally challenged. Possesses the knowledge and skills required to complete assignments at a proficient level.
Position Requirements:
- Current state certification as a certified nursing assistant preferred.

Essential Functions (Responsibilities/Accountabilities):
- Understands role as part of the healthcare team and demonstrates technical skills related to the job.
- Accurately and completely documents on the electronic health record and completes forms and requisitions as indicated.
- Enters, retrieves, and prints computerized information. Updates computer skills to meet job requirements.
- Obtain specimens and complies with appropriate handling guidelines.
- Knows and practices good customer service; demonstrates friendly and caring attitude toward patients and families.
- Good rapport with co-workers and medical providers. Works to create a pleasant work environment.
- Develop a relationship with nurses and providers so as to be viewed as an asset to the patient’s medical team.
- Responsible for the completion and proper documentation of patient care waived testing as required by Rural Health Clinic standards and ordered by the provider. Maintenance of yearly competencies.
