Horton's Kids operates three Community Resource Centers, each playing a vital role in our mission. At the heart of our operations is Horton's Kids Community Resource Hub or “Horton's Hub”, serving as our largest location and headquarters. This multifunctional space serves as both our administrative offices and the central hub for our programming and distribution efforts.
Job Summary:
Horton's Kids is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a College and Career Readiness Program Assistant. This position plays a crucial role in supporting the academic and career development of students in grades 9-12 from underserved communities in Washington, D.C.
Core responsibilities of this position include:
- Assist in the implementation of college and career readiness programs for high school students.
- Support students in exploring post-secondary education options, including colleges, vocational programs, and career paths.
- Provide academic support and guidance to help students achieve their educational goals Assist in organizing/ helping with workshops, events, and field trips related to college and career readiness.
- Collaborate with other staff members to create a supportive and engaging learning environment for students.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and participation in the program.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, social work, or a related field (preferred)
- Experience working with high school students from diverse backgrounds.
- Knowledge of college application processes, financial aid options, and career exploration resources
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to supporting the academic and personal growth of students.
This is a part-time hourly position. Monday – Thursday. 3:30 pm – 7:00pm
