Senior Accountant

As a Senior Accountant you would be responsible for financial reporting, including management and variance reporting, assistance with yearly budget preparation, statistical data reporting, and backup to both payroll processing as well as accounts payable entries and check run processing. This position will be tasked with driving continuous process improvement, utilizing technology, while ensuring the adherence to generally accepted accounting principles.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform the month-end close process including, but not limited to, preparing and posting journal entries.
• Prepare month end financial statements.
• Prepare and delivers schedules, reconciliations, and reports to Senior Management.
• Prepare schedules, reconciliations, and reports in support of the financial statement audit, as well as the 990 returns, and the annual operating budget.
• Prepare quarterly and annual surveys to multiple agencies throughout the year.
• Collect data and reports to submit information to MVI for preparation of the yearly cost report.
• Provide effective backup to Payroll and Accounts Payable through becoming a hands-on utility player within the Finance Department and able to competently step in when necessary to process payroll or an accounts payable check run.
• Implement a management reporting process for department-level financial statements that facilitates manager review of operating results vs. budget.
• Liaison with all operating areas within HOC to provide statistical patient data, answer questions regarding monthly financials, and assist in reports needed for grant applications.
• As needed, provide assistance to the Director of Finance and CFO in any financial analysis requested by the Board of Directors, Executive Management or other operational leaders.
• Assist the Staff Accountant in all aspects of Accounts Payable/General Ledger monthly and year end closing, including preparing the 1099s.

Qualifications

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience working with accounting and finance.
• At least five years' experience in accounting operations including financial reporting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll.
• Experience with automated accounting systems and subsystems. Prefer experience with Sage100. Experience with MyUnity and Paycom would be a plus.
• Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment with time sensitive deliverables.
• Proactive problem-solving skills.
• Embraces change and technology to drive process improvement.
• Must treat confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
• Demonstrated expertise in computer skills, including knowledge of word processing, database management, payroll, advanced Excel, and F9/BI Reporting.
