The Director of Provider Relations is pivotal in providing leadership to identify opportunities for growth and profitability while developing and executing strategies that identify new provider relations opportunities.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Develops and executes all initiatives in areas inclusive of sales management, service excellence, new account acquisition, strategic relationship building, and team development
- Creates effective, meaningful, ongoing relationships with a vast array of professional and community referral sources, including, but not limited to physicians and their staff, facilities and other programs as needed; promotes continued growth and understanding of hospice and palliative care to ensure that service excellence is attained within the community.
- Analyzes and prepares detailed reports on referrals from physicians, hospitals, case managers and other referral sources; utilizes reports and analysis to establish and implement short- and long-term goals, objectives and operating procedures; drafts and updates quarterly territory plans, and oversees the positioning of hospice marketing while running day to day sales growth activities.
- Identifies and develops plans for underserved or unserved populations; participates, as indicated, in collaborative end of life care projects and business development endeavors with healthcare and community organizations; ensures adequate and timely quantitative documentation of marketing and referral activities.
- Develop and oversee the Provider Relations strategic plan. Create goals and measurable objectives for the marketing plan. Evaluate the plan and its performance routinely and annually.
- Create effective, ongoing relationships with a vast array of professional and community referral sources, including, but not limited to physicians and their staff, hospital nursing, social work, and discharge planners; managed care/payer organizations, social service and nursing administration, staff of alternative homes, home health agencies, disease related groups, MRDD organizations, legislators, employers and community to enhance understanding and utilization of hospice and palliative care services.
- Develop and evaluate the continued use of the systematic monitoring of referrals, admissions and average length of stay (ALOS) history and other data for all referral sources.
- Serve as HWR representative to identified community and professional healthcare organizations. Attend meetings and participate in networking, speaking engagements, health fair participation and committee work.
- Support negotiations of contracts with nursing facilities.
- Initiate and maintain liaison relationships with inpatient facilities including GIP, respite and residential contract negotiation, and implementation.
- Participate in the Quality Assurance/Utilization Review process on an ongoing basis
- Provide input and follow-up with professional and community referral sources on quality concerns.
- Plan and implement educational programming and events for physicians and other allied health professionals
- Participate as an active member on committees as needed.
- Coaches staff and others in group presentations, seminars, workshops, displays and special events for physicians and other allied health professionals
- Perform other duties or special projects as required.
MANAGEMENT
- Responsible for the oversight and leadership of the Provider Relations team.
- Oversee the initiation and participation in creative problem-solving dialogues with the Provider Relations team and HWR staff to effectively address the needs of patients, families, and external referral sources.
- Monitors the overall results of team sales efforts and makes recommendations and/or necessary changes in strategy to build and develop external business leads and relationships, and effectively promote hospice services with referrers.
SUCCESS CAPABILITIES:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or healthcare related field.
- Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in business or public administration preferred.
- Minimum 5 years’ healthcare experience: hospice, homecare, assisted living and/or skilled nursing exp preferred.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience with business development.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in sales management, including supervisory experience, and demonstrated leadership experience in successfully driving quality, profitability and growth initiatives throughout an organization; or any combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills and abilities listed below.
- Demonstrated leadership experience successfully driving strategic and growth initiatives throughout an organization
- Experience with strategic planning, financial management, and relationship development
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate via writing and orally to various audiences; experience presenting information to captivate both internal and external clients.
- Proven track record in strategic company growth and development with P&L results driven success
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Ability to maintain accurate and confidential records.
- Adept with computers and Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Ability to execute excellent research and project coordination skills
- Must exhibit detail orientation, exceptional organization and accuracy
- Ability to have and maintain a valid driver's license, good driving record and auto accident insurance at a level acceptable to HWR and/or HWR’s insurer.
