Residential Housing Aide
REPORTS TO: Senor Director Programs
STATUS: Full-time
SCHEDULE: Monday to Friday, overnight and weekends
SALARY: $19.23 per hour
The Residential Aide is responsible for developing a safe and secure environment for residents and guests of My Mother's House, one of Hour Children’s transitional residences. My Mother's House is a residence that supports up to 18 women and/or families in the reentry process. This position offers provisional care to clients and supports the operation of the My Mother's House. Specifically, the Residential Aide provides services to consumers in the residential setting in accordance with program policies and goals of individuals and families.

Specifically, the Residential Aide provides services to consumers in the residential setting in accordance with program policies and goals of individuals and families.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Receives new clients, assists with intake paperwork, and orients new clients to services and its policies.
- Serve as a role model to guide and empower residents along with facilitating appropriate behavior around daily living skills, self-care, personal interaction, social relationships, and constructive time management.
- Assist with preparing units for residents and coordinating with maintenance and other staff.
- Stores, administers, and documents the monitoring of activities including in accordance with Hour Children policies and procedures, applicable NYC/NYS laws, and regulations governing such activities.
- Provides shelter and safety needs of residents.
- Completes hourly house rounds and records findings in logbook.
- Prepares and/or supervises chores of residents as needed
- Encourages compliance with house expectations.
- Assists consumers to see that adequate supplies are on-hand (e.g., cleaning agents, paper products)
- Provides reports, keeps attendance, and other documentation, as needed
- Attends residential staff and clinical meetings as and other staff meetings and trainings, as required
- Takes an active role in client hygiene, as necessary.
- Conduct safety checks and ensure building and grounds are maintained and safe
- Assist with bi-monthly room inspections
- May provide coverage in the absence of the house management staff when on vacation or other leave.
- Facilitate community house meetings as needed
- Available for all shifts including weekends is required
- Other duties, as assigned
- 2-4 years of experience in a residential setting serving vulnerable populations with significant trauma histories
- 2-4 years’ experience providing services to formerly incarcerated women, women with substance use and/or mental health histories, mothers, and/or older women/seniors
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate small group process
- HS/GED Required or Associate’s Degree in Social Work or Human Services related field
- Familiar with Microsoft Office software, including Excel and Outlook

- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills including typing and writing
- Must possess strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Must have the ability to work independently and as a team member
- Must take initiative and ability to identify process improvements
- Knowledge of first aid methods and techniques
- Ability to learn and apply written policies and procedures related to work
- Ability to concentrate on a designated area for extended periods
- Able to lift/move weight up to 75 lbs.
- Vision adequate to perform the responsibilities and functions of the job efficiently.
- Must be able to sit for 2 or more hours per day.
- Must be able to stand for 2 or more hours per day.
- Must be able to operate a computer/hand-held digital device for more than 2 hours per day.
- Must be able to drive or ride in a moving vehicle.
