What are the responsibilities and job description for the Warehouse Clerk 3rd Shift position at House Of Flavors Inc?

SUMMARY: Providing safe and quality food is the job of all House of Flavors employees. The Freezer Warehouse Employee, an at-will employee working under the direction of the Freezer Warehouse Manager and Supervisors, is a licensed fork lift operator, working in a below zero freezer warehouse, pulling and staging the finished goods specified on order pick sheets. The Freezer Warehouse Employee immediately communicates defects observed in quality or shortages in product to a supervisor. The employee helps other warehouse employees maintain a clean and food safe environment in all areas of the freezer warehouse and participates in inventory and special projects. All Good Manufacturing Practices and general safety practices are observed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Picks stored products according to an order pick sheet using a forklift or other high reach warehouse equipment; maintains First Expired, First Out.

  • Ensures the proper handling of ingredients.

  • Puts picked items in designated areas.

  • Documents any quality problems or shortages in a timely manner and reports the shortages to a supervisor.

  • Participates in all scheduled inventories.

  • Follows all Food Safety Procedures; removes trash and sweeps the warehouse floor as needed.

  • Works as a member of the Freezer Warehouse team, learning the jobs of different work stations included in this job description, enabling the ability to rotate from job to job giving breaks or filling in when other employees are absent.

  • Completes all other duties as assigned, including working with the South Freezer Warehouse Manager and other managers to enhance the overall profitability of the operation.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility to appropriate company standards. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or equivalent is required along with a minimum of 6 months of work experience in a related field and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficiency in the use a forklift and the ability to obtain a fork lift license. Previous experience using (or the ability to learn to use) high reach warehouse equipment. The ability to work co-operatively in a team environment is essential.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and write in order to follow instructions, understand company policies and create and respond to short documents; ability to effectively present information verbally to others; ability to match numbers, such as product codes, from inventory to order instructions.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and ability to perform mathematical calculations and understand numerical specifications including temperature measurements, time calculations and decimal weights.

REASONING ABILITY: Has the ability to read and write in order to follow instructions, understand company policies, and create and respond to short documents; can effectively present information verbally to others. Has the ability to match numbers, such as product codes, from inventory to order instructions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will go in and out of a very cold environment. The employee is required to sit for long periods of time driving a fork lift; is required to stand and walk frequently; uses hands and arms to lift and grip controls on a repetitive basis. The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch and to use hand/eye coordination to stack or sort product and cannot have a fear of heights. The employee must be able to talk and hear.

The employee must be able to continuously lift and/or move up to 50 pounds for up to 10 hours.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to extreme cold which may get down to 20 degrees F. The employee occasionally works in high places or places of limited space. The noise level in the work area is usually loud. Safety equipment may be required.

COMMENTS AND/OR ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Clothing suitable for the conditions is required. This includes safety-toed boots and may include insulated coveralls, bibs, coat, face mask and gloves. House of Flavors provides suitable clothing for its qualified employees. Required are a valid driver’s license, forklift license, and possibly a chauffeur’s license.
