JOB TITLE: Project Hope Program Assistant
STATUS: Non-Exempt, Full-Time
LOCATION: House of Hope, Stuart, FL
REPORTS TO: Director of Empowerment Services

JOB SUMMARY:
Assist House of Hope clients and others by providing services including, but not limited to financial assistance assessments and screenings, food pantry services, clothes closet, holiday programs, and referrals to community social services. Maintain case files, collect client data and enter it into the organization’s database. Fluency in English and Creole is preferred.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist Project HOPE program staff with provision of all Project HOPE (Helping Others Progress through Empowerment) components, including but not limited to: Financial assistance, Clothes Closet, Pantry services,Case management, and Holiday programs.
  • Conduct client screening and assessments to collect functional, environmental, financial, employment, housing, educational and health information as appropriate to document clients’ progress towards self-sufficiency.
  • Engage clients in problem-solving and goal-setting in support for the implementation of individual service plan (ISP); assist, guide and motivate clients to reach goals and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in public and private resources applicable to the county’s low-income population.
  • Develop a resource referral base and build relationships with community-based organizations, including educational, health, governmental and other human service agencies.
  • Assist HOH clients with information and referrals to empower the client to access community services and resources, which may include assisting clients with applications for public assistance programs including SNAP, health insurance and subsidized childcare.
  • Prepare and maintain case files as well as monthly administrative reports, client statistics and progress reports.
  • Ensure accurate and timely collection of client data related to Project HOPE programs.
  • Aid the Director of Empowerment Services and other Project HOPE staff with monitoring and evaluating the success of Project HOPE programs in meeting measurable objectives to ensure the provision and quality of service

Other Related Duties

  • Act as an ambassador of House of Hope and ensure the highest quality services to our customers, clients and supporters.
  • Participate in disaster- or emergency-related duties, as needed.
  • Provide support to fellow department team members, as well as outside departments, as needed.
  • Perform all duties in conformance with appropriate safety and security standards.
  • Attend training, as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience: Associate’s degree in a related field (such as human services) and one year of related experience required or Bachelor’s degree in related human service field (e.g., psychology, social work, sociology, etc.) may substitute for the experience requirement. Two years directly related experience may substitute for each year of the education requirement, if there is demonstrated knowledge, ability and skills to perform the work.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Fluency in English and Creole is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of social work interviewing methods and techniques.
  • Knowledge of community social services and resources.
  • Ability to organize, set priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently with a minimum of supervision.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of clients, co-workers and agency.
  • Knowledge of problem-solving techniques, problem identification and evaluation.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to develop and maintain effective and appropriate working relationships with customers, co-workers and representatives of other agencies.
  • Ability to relate well to individuals of all backgrounds and socio-economic levels in person or over the telephone.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge about the operation of general office equipment, standard computer-based programs and applications, including Microsoft Office.
  • Adapts to frequent changes in the work environment.
  • Ability to work occasional evening and weekend hours, as required.
  • Ability to maintain clean, well-groomed appearance and dress appropriately for the position.
  • Must have reliable transportation with insurance coverage and valid Florida driver's license.
  • Compliance with House of Hope policies and procedures.

The employee may frequently sit for extended periods of time. The employee may occasionally need to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
