Position Summary:
The Sr. Financial Analyst is responsible for the financial analysis and will serve as a financial business partner to the agency’s operating groups working cross-functionally to solve business challenges and work with the Controller and Audit Manager to drive the agency’s strategic initiatives, working with internal and external team members including outside professional consultants to achieve HOME goals.
Job Qualifications and Knowledge Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree in accounting or finance from an accredited university.
- MBA, MAC, and/or CPA preferred
- 5 to 10 years of experience in financial reporting, planning, and analysis
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Experience with financial or accounting computer systems.
- Strong proficiency in database modeling (SQL and/or Excel).
- Keen attention to detail and accuracy, exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills
- Ability to effectively manage multiple projects concurrently and prioritize them
- Ability to interpret technical and financial data and confidence to interface with senior-level executives.
- Results-driven with emphasis on innovation and continuous process improvement.
- Ability to effectively lead a team or be part of one, depending on the circumstances, and lead with calm confidence.
- Must have strong interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills

Requirements
Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Serve as a financial business partner to the operations of Budgets and Audits, working cross-functionally to drive operating financial results.
- Leverage existing technology to optimize financial reporting and analysis quality, efficiency, and timeliness.
- Assists in the preparation of the GFOA annual submission.
- HUD coordinator regarding access, submissions, and recertifications.
- Review financial results and collaborate with finance and operations teams to analyze variances and ensure the integrity and completeness of financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
- Develop and report metrics and key performance indicators, utilizing them to identify opportunities to improve the agency’s performance and systems.
- Ensure proper internal controls are in place and consistently monitored.
- Develop, implement, document, and maintain systems and procedures to improve quality and efficiencies and ensure agency policy and procedure adherence.
- Mitigate operational risks by establishing, documenting, and implementing procedures and ensuring strong internal controls are in place and consistently monitored.
- Serve as a financial partner by assisting in the months and year-end closing.
- Perform other duties and special projects as management requests.
