Objectives
We are looking for a Strategic Business Partnerships & Marketing Manager. This is a new position with the HBA and will be working within the Marketing and Communications Department to lead efforts in: creating and fostering strategic business relationships, donor and sponsor relations, and marketing initiatives to drive revenue.
The position will report directly to the Director of Marketing and Communications.
This individual will lead business development initiatives and serve as a key liaison between the organization and strategic, external partners. The ideal candidate will have experience in donor relations, academic development, and/or major gifts, serving as a valuable foundation.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strategic partnerships between the HBA and HBF with legal, corporate, and nonprofit sectors.
- Develop targeted marketing initiatives to attract new members and engage current members.
- Design and implement digital campaigns and ROI strategies to increase sponsorship revenue.
- Spearhead efforts to grow revenue streams outside of traditional membership dues.
- Support fundraising campaigns to drive growth of the Houston Bar Foundation, the HBA’s charitable arm.
- Manage all aspects of print and digital advertising and event sponsorships.
- Track sponsorship dollars and ensure sponsor benefits are fulfilled. Foster sponsor relations from start to finish, ensuring sponsor engagement and feedback. Oversee follow-up with sponsors post-event to gauge satisfaction of benefits received and make recommendations to department directors.
- Assist in giving campaigns and sponsor recognition across communications channels.
Ideal Background and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business administration, or related fields.
- 3-5 years of experience in marketing strategies and analytics, development, donor relations, or sponsorships—preferably in a nonprofit, academic, or professional association environment.
- Strong skills in relationship-building, strategic thinking, vendor relationships, contract negotiations, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Familiarity with nonprofit or academic development; sponsorship acquisition, packaging, and pricing; and fundraising campaigns.
- Experience with CRM or AMS software (Salesforce, MemberCentral, etc.).
Pay: Starting at $65,000
