Groundskeeper

Reports to: Grounds Manager

Job status: Non-Exempt

Position Summary: Perform basic grounds keeping chores.

Job Responsibilities:

• Landscapes and maintains campus grounds.
• Performs scheduled lawn mowing, trimming, weeding, and fertilizing, tree and shrub pruning, repair and reseeding of damaged lawn areas.
• Plants and maintains trees, shrubs, and flowers.
• Water lawn, trees and plants.
• Rakes and disposes of leaves and other yard waste.
• Maintain driveways, sidewalks, and parking lots.
• Keeps grounds free of litter.
• Maintain tools and equipment.
• Picks up and delivers material and equipment.
• Reports maintenance problems related to trade but not but not limited to trade
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Be able to operate all types of equipment, machinery and tools to perform duties.

Other Job-Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Types of machines, tools, and other special equipment used to perform job duties: power push mower, riding mower, gas-powered leaf blower, wheelbarrow, hand tools including rake, shovel, spreader, and chemical sprayer, portable sprinkler system, and hose.

Must be able to work with others and communicate in a firm and friendly manner with all staff and fellow workers as well as students.

Bilingual preferred but not required.

Education:

Work requires an educational background normally equivalent to high school with course work in skilled crafts or trades training.

Experience:

Educational and work experience that evidences knowledge of and ability to perform tasks related to essential duties and responsibilities listed above. 2 years prior experience in lawn care and landscaping.

Physical Requirements:

With or without the use of aids, sufficient vision to read printed material. Sufficient body movement and mobility to drive a vehicle, crawl, bend, stoop, and work on knees

Work Environment:

Ability to have sufficient stamina to perform heavy physical labor in adverse weather conditions
