*The hours for this position are Monday-Friday 1:00pm-10:00pm*


POSITION SUMMARY:

The Warehouse Manager is a responsible leader with the ability to direct a team of supervisors and associates as well as actively and efficiently manage all aspects of the warehouse day to day operations. This position must have the ability to make a difference by positively influencing the business directly as well as through good collaboration, following all processes, and procedures, and meeting goals and production quotas. Maintain product integrity as well as prioritize customer service, team building, staff development as well as cross-departmental collaboration, and communication. This position will assist in maintaining an equitable, safe working environment to promote positivity and organizational culture.

  1. Execute all Warehouse management-related tasks, including but not limited to day-to-day warehouse planning/scheduling.
  2. Lead/manage/develop frontline employees and supervisors by hiring qualified team members, assigning team responsibilities, timely addressing attendance/conduct/performance issues, and conducting mid-year and year-end performance evaluations.
  3. Ensure all warehouse associates are safely/properly trained and supervised daily.
  4. Monitor work performances and provide constructive feedback. 
  5. Ensures cleanliness and overall condition of the warehouse.
  6. Prepare for all audits and comply with Feeding America, AIB, TDA, OSHA, and all other regulatory requirements.
  7. Review recommends and develops procedural changes to achieve and maintain accurate receiving, distribution goals, and most of all quality and customer service.
  8. Prepares reports on warehouse activities and productivity as requested. (Metrics)
  9. Ensure the product received and shipped is inspected for quality control, and properly tagged prior to storing and distribution.
  10. Work with inventory, distribution, and warehouse to ensure FEFO/FIFO is being followed.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma, Associates Degree, or Bachelor’s degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management preferred
  • (5 ) years of consistent experience in a related field
  • Forklift Certified

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:

  • Warehouse/Management-related certifications a plus but not required 

Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to lead and always maintain professionalism
  • Effectively communicate orally and in writing with all departments and staff members
  • Ability to motivate and encourage teamwork within the department and operation
  • Ability to promote, encourage, and enforce equity and opportunities
  • Effectively communicate HFB’s mission and goals
  • Required knowledge of WMS, Manufacturing, Accounting, and Perishables
  • Inventory/Logistics/Supply Chain Management, MS Office Applications
  • Must be able to work independently and collaboratively 
  • Must be a self-starter
  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Strong problem-solving abilities
  • Must be able to work in multiple environments within the warehouse (dry area, freezer, refrigerator)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of the job, the associate is required daily to analyze and interpret data, communicate, and remain in a standing or stationary position for a significant amount of the workday; and often access, input, and retrieve information from the computer and other office productivity devices. The associate must regularly move about the office and around the facility, use hands, wrists, and fingers to grip, type, and write. The associate will need to have the average ability to hear horns, warnings, and alerts associated with a warehouse. The associate must occasionally travel to other sites for business.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those associate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While the job is generally performed in an enclosed office environment, the associate is occasionally exposed to freezers, enclosed and/or tight spaces, wet and/or humid conditions, and areas in which moving mechanical parts, fumes, and toxic or caustic chemicals are present, strong food-related smells, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the office environment is typically quiet, but the associate will be occasionally exposed to loud noise levels (e.g., horns, fans).

 

TRAVEL REQUIRED: 

This role supports all hours of operations at the Houston Food Bank facilities as necessary and requires a flexible work schedule.
