Job Summary
The Howard J. Moore Company is looking to hire a machinist to setup and program our CNC Lathes. The role requires a strong understanding of machining processes, blueprint reading, and precision measuring instruments. Our CNC lathe department consists of two Hyundai Kia CNC lathes, with Fanuc controls, in addition to multiple manual machines. Our company specializes in machining plastics and non-metalic materials.
Duties
- Setup, monitor and maintain our CNC Lathes
- Program CNC lathes using G-Code, and CAD/CAM software (gibbscam)
- Set up and operate manual Lathes, Bridgeports, and Drill Presses
- Perform quality control checks using calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments to ensure parts meet specifications.
- Collaborate with the manufacturing team to troubleshoot issues related to machine operation or programming.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area while adhering to safety protocols in the manufacturing facility.
- Assist in materials handling, fabrication, and assembly line operations as needed.
- Document production processes and maintain accurate records of work performed.
Skills
- Proficient in CNC programming with experience in Fanuc controls preferred.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
- Familiarity with G Code and basic math skills for calculations related to machining processes.
- Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) principles is beneficial.
- Familiarity with GibbsCAM would be valued, but not required
- Ability to program and setup CNC Mills would be valued, but not required
- Ability to setup Screw machines would be valued, but not required
Job Details
- Monday-Friday schedule 7am-5:30 pm Monday-Thursday, 7am-11am Friday

Pay: $27.00 - $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 46 per week
