What is the role?
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Business Analyst to support the design, development, and evolution of data products that drive our insurance business forward. This strategic role is integral to enabling scalable growth, ensuring compliance, and delivering exceptional client service across our U.S. operations.
The ideal candidate will bring expertise in requirements gathering, data analysis, functional design, and product testing, with the ability to collaborate across business and technical teams. Familiarity with insurance processes, regulatory requirements, and data management is highly valued.
In this role, you will partner with stakeholders to translate business needs into functional and technical solutions, ensure data products meet business and compliance standards, and when required, act as a proxy product owner until the product matures. You will also leverage visualization tools such as Power BI to deliver actionable insights that improve decision-making and operational efficiency.
What will you be doing?
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with stakeholders to gather, document, and validate business requirements for analytical solutions and data products.
- Translate business needs into functional and technical specifications in collaboration with product owners and engineering teams, and when required, act as a proxy product owner until the solution or product matures.
- Support the design of analytical solutions and data products by defining functional workflows, use cases, and user stories.
- Collaborate with data engineers to ensure alignment between requirements and technical solutions.
- Develop wireframes, mock-ups, or process flows to communicate functional design.
- Create and maintain detailed documentation, including requirements, acceptance criteria, and user guides.
- Coordinate and perform functional testing of analytical solutions and data products to validate requirements and ensure quality.
- Drive user acceptance testing (UAT), including test case preparation, execution, and issue resolution.
- Support deployment activities and post-implementation validation.
- Develop and optimize dashboards and reports using Power BI (or similar tools) to deliver clear, actionable insights in collaboration with business users.
- Identify gaps, risks, and opportunities for process or solution improvement.
- Serve as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring clear communication and alignment.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
- Proficiency in data visualization tools, especially Power BI.
- Knowledge of data modelling, data products, and data governance concepts.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and focus on quality outcomes.
- Problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
- Basic understanding of functional design principles and workflow visualization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative discipline
- 5 years of experience in business analysis, requirements gathering, or product support.
- Demonstrated experience in a professional office setting.
- Familiarity with insurance systems and licensing regulations is a plus.
