What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental Coordinator position at HRI, Inc.?

HRI, Inc., a leader in heavy civil construction since 1947, has openings for experienced and energetic Environmental Coordinator. HRI is seeking qualified applicants for a position within our company located in the Central Pennsylvania area. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring environmental compliance throughout the company’s construction projects as well as the communication of the HRI safety policy. Assist project staff to determine Cost Effective Solutions to jobsite conditions/situations.

Main Responsibilities:

· Review environmental site assessments, due diligence forms, and other special provisions of contracts for bidding purposes.

· Develop and maintain Erosion and Sedimentation Plans for construction sites.

· Attends and participates in routine & non-routine client and customer environmental meetings.

· Participates in pre-construction planning phases of all work. Identifies environmental issues.

· Conducts soil and water sampling according to waste management practices, clean fill determinations, and DEP permit compliance.

· Develops and conducts site specific environmental training classes.

· Completes written environmental inspection reports, reviews with field supervision, and ensures correction whether immediate or by follow-up inspection.

· Develop Preparedness, Prevention and Contingency Plans.

· Organize community outreach events with local entities in our business areas.

· Overall job responsibility is to implement all policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulatory agencies (EPA, DEP, and County Conservation Districts).

· Performs other job-related duties as required or assigned.

Skills:

· Knowledge of DEP regulations

· Ability to recognize environmental risks during pre-construction phase and suggest corrective measures

· Proficient in standard software, and computer skills

· Excellent analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills

· Expertise in estimating and managing construction projects

· Ability to operate in a fast-paced and often ambiguous environment

· A team-first mentality and eagerness to set and meet aggressive goals

Education:

· Preferred degree in the Environmental field, related degree, or equivalent combination of training and experience

· Valid driver’s license with clean driving history

Physical Requirements:

· Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by Company safety guidelines

· Regularly required to use hands to move and manipulate objects

· Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear)

· Standing/working on feet for long periods, and walking across uneven terrain

· Frequent exposure to loud noise

· Regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles

· Required to work varying hours, including nights/weekends as required

· Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol testing requirements

· Proven track record working safely

· Good work ethic, professional, and positive attitude
