STATEMENT OF DUTIES and QUALIFICATIONS:
The Food Service Workers are primarily responsible to assist the Cooks with the preparation and service of well-balanced meals and snacks to juvenile residents of the HJDRC. Under general guidance of a cook, Food Service Workers assist in simple food preparation by weighing, measuring, portioning, wrapping, peeling and chopping foods as needed. Food Service Workers assemble ingredients according to standardized recipes. Food Service Workers perform a variety of food service tasks in the areas of meal assembly and service, ware washing, sanitation and safety. Food Service Workers are responsible for washing cooking and service items and maintaining the cleanliness and security of the food service area. As needed, Food Service Workers perform any other food service related duties. HJDRC is a year round operation which may require Food Service Workers to work weekends and holidays.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare, cook and plate meals and food as requested by the Kitchen Supervisor or other supervising employee.
- Prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals.
- Help cooks with food preparation duties for the day by cutting, peeling, or slicing as needed.
- Assist Correctional officers in counting and delivery of food and food items in a timely manner.
- Demonstrate positive demeanor when dealing with employees, food vendors, and visitors to the facility.
- Keep the kitchen clean and organized; assist with cleaning kitchen area by picking up trash, clearing and washing plates, dishes, and wiping down kitchen equipment.
- Assist in ordering food and beverage items and receiving of deliveries and careful storage of items.
- Must be able to pick up 50 lbs.
- Must be able to cook up to 35 meals by yourself on occasion.
- Adhere to food safety standards at all times, making sure that all food is free of contaminants and pathogens that might make people sick.
- Clean pots, pans and any other dishes in the kitchen as needed, adhering to safety and sanitation standards at all times.
- Other and collateral duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education and Experience:
- An ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or G.E.D.;
- Some experience with food service.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Applicants must show that they possess the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position by responding to the job elements.
Other:
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Have a Food Handler’s card/certification or be able to obtain one.
- Must be able to attend trainings and travel while employed with the organization.
- Must have a Driver’s license and be insurable with the Tribe’s Company.
NECESSARY REQUIREMENTS:
- This position is subject to a background investigation and applicant must pass a background investigation.
- Applicants for this position must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
