We are seeking motivated and enthusiastic paraprofessionals to join the team at Hudson High School. The primary function of the Paraprofessional is to provide academic and interpersonal supports to students with disabilities in the classroom setting. Paraprofessionals may be tasked to support classrooms across academic disciplines.
The ideal candidate should be proactive and willing to engage reluctant learners, be able to respond to the guidance and direction of the classroom teacher, and work independently to solve problems related to student learning and behavior. Additionally, we expect that Hudson High educators are able to work with students from different racial, ethnic, and linguistic backgrounds as well as hold the belief that all students have the capacity to learn and achieve their personal and our collective goals
•Responsible for assisting the classroom teacher by reviewing, correcting and reinforcing lessons with individual and small groups of students in all content areas and other activities as defined in the student’s IEP or 504 plan.
•Responsible for assisting in preparation and inventory of instructional materials and the setting-up operating and maintenance of various classroom’s learning aids and equipment
•Responsible for supporting student physical and personal care needs such as assisting in lavatory routines, toileting, diapering, lifting, transfers, assistive supports such as use of wheelchairs, walkers, gait trainers, etc. and other assistive technology needs of students.
•Responsible for assisting the classroom teacher in clerical work which may include, but it is not limited to, recording daily attendance, cataloging and filing instructional materials.
•Responsible for participating and contributing to weekly, monthly and long-range planning with the classroom teacher for instructional activities such as observing special days and events, field trips and visits and school wide activities such as health testing, etc.
•Responsible for assisting the classroom teacher during the work day in maintaining open communication. All oral and written communication is under the supervision of the teacher and/or administrator.
•Responsible for maintaining student confidentiality.
•Responsible for the supervision and support of children in both structured and unstructured activities and across environments throughout the day.
•Responsible for contributing to a warm, safe and supportive school atmosphere so that all students will have the opportunity to grow and develop to their fullest potential, including verbal and non-verbal interactions with students.
•Responsible for serving as the guiding source of information and assisting any substitute teacher assigned to the classroom in the absence of the teacher.
•Responsible for implementing district and school-wide rules, policies and procedures and individual student behavior plans. This includes collecting and tracking of student data supervised by teacher or support staff and participation in data training sessions.
•Responsible for adhering to all testing protocols for students with disabilities, including formal and informal testing’s. Responsible for participating in related professional development training specific to the administration of assessments and accommodations.
•Responsible for participating in non-violent crisis intervention training and refresher course as assigned by building principals and determined by the needs of the students.
•Performs any other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as the Principal or designee may from time to time assign and delegate.
