Summary:

The Student Data Systems Manager reports directly to the Director of Technology. The position is responsible for all Pupil Accounting functions, student online registration support, support and execution of the student information system, and state and federal data reporting.


Description

  • Perform all functions of the electronic processes of pupil accounting (i.e. Count Day, SRM, Section 25, Audits, Year End, TSDL, OCR, 31A)
  • Serve as the main point of contact for all questions, requests, updates, troubleshooting, training, etc. when it comes to the district SIS.
  • Directly responsible to assist district staff with SIS software issues.
  • Train all new staff with SIS for grading, attendance, and family information.
  • Work directly with secretaries in all aspects of SIS including upgrades, promotions, progress reports, report cards, transcripts, scheduling and custom reports/exports.
  • Manages, maintains, and validates district data elements in compliance with MDE, MiDataHub, MEIS, CEPI, BAA and any other mandated database.
  • SIS liaison for administrative office personnel.
  • Coordinate Transportation, Food Service, and Library personnel in the use and exchange of data with the SIS.
  • Directly responsible for district maintenance of pupil accounting data as required by the State of Michigan.
  • Oversee all aspects of data collection.
  • Work with HPS pupil accounting, special education, and building personnel in the data collection process.
  • Supports the coordination of shared time schedules with shared time partners, including impact on both pupil accounting and the student information system.
  • Maintain membership, attend conferences and training such as MPAAA (Michigan Pupil Accounting
  • and Attendance Association).
  • Responsible for reports such as Direct Certification Report, Student Record Maintenance (SRM), GAD, General Collection, FTE Audit, TSDL, Civil Rights Data Collection, 31A, and others.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Preferred Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of eight or more years of similar experience, training and in a job-related field that enables performance of all aspects of this position
  • Highly effective organizational skills
  • Use and understanding of PowerSchool Student Management System
  • Ability to work autonomously within an organization
  • Computer and office application software expertise, knowledge of database systems and reporting, windows operating systems and software applications
  • High level of communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with staff and students.
  • Ability to problem solve, especially when it comes to technology issues
  • A documented history of maintaining quality assurance and data integrity, as well as an understanding of the protocols related to confidentiality


Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from the community, regulatory agencies or staff members.


Mathematical Skills:

Skilled use of spreadsheet software (specifically Excel) to manipulate data for export, import, and reporting purposes.


Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

  • Supports students and staff by providing services that support the educational activities and program to promote that students reach their full potential academically, emotionally, physically and socially.
