Job Summary:

Human-I-T is seeking a Logistics Supervisor to lead and manage our logistics team, ensuring the efficient and organized receipt, assessment, and sorting of incoming technology donations. This role is responsible for overseeing all logistics operations, including scheduling local and freight pickups, coordinating receiving and sorting activities, and working with third-party partners to facilitate the seamless movement of donated technology. The Logistics Supervisor plays a critical role in optimizing logistics workflows, maintaining compliance with safety and data security standards, and enhancing overall operational efficiency.

This role is based in a secure, NAID AAA and ISO-certified facility, ensuring top-tier data security and operational integrity. To maintain a safe and compliant workplace, all new hires must complete a background check and drug screening before starting. Our warehouse environment includes active equipment, material handling, and requires constant attention to safety.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Team Leadership and Operational Management:

  • Lead the logistics team, including drivers, helpers, and sorters, to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Enforce company policies, including dress code and attendance, to maintain a professional and productive workplace.
  • Conduct regular team meetings and daily huddles to communicate goals, review performance, and address operational challenges.
  • Oversee the closing and resetting of logistics operations at the end of each day, ensuring all systems are properly shut down, and workspaces are clean and organized.

Freight and Local Pickup Coordination:

  • Schedule and optimize local pickups and freight shipments to ensure efficient routing and cost-effective operations.
  • Balance scheduling priorities based on urgency, donor requests, and truck availability.
  • Maintain clear communication with donors and third party logistics providers to confirm pickup scheduling and address any logistical concerns.
  • Track incoming donations and ensure all necessary paperwork, including Bills of Lading (BOLs), is completed accurately.
  • Stand in as a backup driver, as needed.

Receiving and Sorting of Technology Donations:

  • Assess incoming technology donations to determine reuse potential and separate items for recycling, including cables, scrap metal, and cardboard.
  • Oversee the removal and secure handling of hard drives and other data-bearing devices from desktop PCs, laptops, and electronics.
  • Maintain organization within the e-waste staging area, scheduling pickups for recycling partners and ensuring proper material disposal.

Training, Compliance, and Quality Control:

  • Train new team members on safe handling procedures, data security compliance, and customer interaction protocols.
  • Ensure team adherence to NAID AAA certification requirements and environmental safety regulations.
  • Conduct regular quality control checks on donation handling and sorting procedures to maintain compliance and efficiency.
  • Oversee the daily maintenance and proper use of logistics equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and trucks, ensuring all are in safe working order.

Stakeholder Interaction and Customer Service:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for logistics-related donor interactions, maintaining a high level of professionalism and service.
  • Address and resolve any logistics issues or complaints in a timely and effective manner.
  • Coordinate with Business Development and Operations teams to ensure donor expectations are met and exceeded.
  • Additional duties as needed

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Vocational training or certifications in warehouse operations are a plus.
  • Experience in logistics, warehousing, or inventory management, preferably handling electronics or similar materials.
  • Proven experience in logistics management, supply chain operations, or a supervisory role in a warehouse or transportation setting.

Skills & Competencies

  • Proficiency in operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment (certification preferred).
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, train, and motivate a diverse team.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on process improvement.
  • High proficiency in logistics software and project management tools (e.g., Asana).
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Basic computer skills for inventory data entry and workflow management.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and navigate complex logistical challenges.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to regularly lift and carry items up to 100 pounds.
  • Comfortable working on your feet for extended periods, including bending, kneeling, and palletizing.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse environment with varying conditions.

Other Requirements

  • Must pass a third-party background check and drug screening.
  • COVID-19 vaccination required as a condition of employment.
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma or ISO certification compliance is a plus.
