Description of Position:
Primary responsibilities are providing drug, alcohol, and gambling clinical services to clients in a residential/outpatient setting. Specific duties include providing drug, alcohol, and gambling evaluations, developing individual treatment plans, providing individual counseling, group counseling, family group sessions, family conferences, and educational presentations to clients and community groups. These services also may be provided at various locations throughout the six county catchment area if feasible.

Full Time: 40 hours per week (Monday - Friday)
Shift: Days/Evenings
Pay Range: $23 - $24
Job Knowledge and Comprehension:
A. Performs intakes and evaluations of clients referred to the Human Service Agency with possible drug, alcohol, and/or gambling problems.
B. Develops, monitors, and completes individual progress notes, treatment plans, treatment plan reviews, and discharge summaries as needed.
C. Conducts individual counseling.
D. Conducts group therapy.
E. Provides crisis intervention as needed with caseload clients or individuals calling in need of crisis intervention.
F. Provides discharge and aftercare planning, including coordinating the development of aftercare plans with the client, facilitating aftercare and discharge planning conferences with the client, and making aftercare referrals to self-help groups and additional professional services as needed.
G. Participates in the planning, development, and implementation of programs and clinical services.
H. Provides routine lectures and psycho-educational activities as a routine part of prevention and treatment programming as assigned.
I. Performs other duties as assigned consistent with exempt functions
Physical Requirements
Required to sit for long periods of time. Infrequent light physical effort required lifting up to 10 lbs. occasionally and 25 lbs. rarely. The employee frequently is required to sit and reach with hands and arms. Employee may be required to work extended periods of time at a computer monitor. Must be able to drive vehicle occasionally.
Qualifications
Licensure or Certification by South Dakota Board of Addiction and Prevention Professionals preferred.
Bachelor’s Degree with emphasis in Human Services/Drug and Alcohol field.
Demonstration of strong communication skills, including assertiveness, empathy, and crisis management.
The Board of Directors of the Human Service Agency shall have the prerogative to hire staff whose qualifications may vary from the above. This position requires access to Electronic Personal Health Information (EPHI). Current HSA Policies and Procedures apply.
