Human Support Services, a non-profit community mental health agency located in Monroe County seeks a full-time job coach.
We are looking for full-time dependable caring workers to train and support people receiving employment services in community businesses and job sites. Assist people receiving services in achieving their employment/occupational outcomes by implementing person centered employment plans. Promoting self-advocacy and self-determination of the people served.
This position professionally represents HSS and the people supported to employers, business owners and the community at large. Strong communications skills are necessary. Continued awareness of general employment needs in community jobs, including health and safety standards.
This position will…
• Orientate assigned new clients and significant others to the services and procedures of the Building Futures Program, documenting all such orientation.
• Communicate effectively with HSS staff, employers, job developers and others to ensure a clear understanding for each supported person and the progress made. Problem solving skills, interpersonal skills, making reasonable accommodations, breaking down and analyzing job tasks are all necessary skills.
• Ensure all required documentation is complete, timely, accurate and professional.
• Participate in staffings/person centered plan for all assigned clients.
• Serve as an advocate for clients with other community resources. Emphasis should be placed upon providing supports and services in accordance with the clients’ strengths, talents, and interests.
• Write Daily Progress Notes on goals/outcomes for assigned clients.
• Ability to work with clients age 17 and up.
• Communication with the special ed teachers and school district.

Requirements
• Must have valid driver’s license
• Must be willing to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends when necessary to support the individuals in their workplace.
• Must be high school graduate or equivalent and 18 years of age or older.
• Able to lift and walk flights of stairs
• Experience in serving individuals with developmental disabilities/mental illness
