Job Summary:
Coordinates our education programs, special projects and events. Writes curriculum, coordinates visuals and enhancements for new education endeavors; managers our Kids for Critters Camp and Club HOPE afterschool program, as well as teaches in-house, outreach and virtual classes of all types. Serves as an education representative for the HSM in the community as needed; serves as a liaison between the HSM and education organizations/institutions in the community; provides education representation to other HSM departments such as Marketing (assistance with TAILS, E-tails, social media, website info, etc.), manages the volunteer humane educator program and provides training, mentoring, scheduling and continuing education needs for our humane educator volunteers.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist the Director of Education with the creation of curriculum, props and visual aides for all programming.
- Teach in-house, outreach and virtual classes as needed for any/all HSMO programs.
- Serve as the Kids for Critters Camp Mangager during the summer and the Club HOPE program manager during the school year.
- Plan the bi-monthly educator meetings and continuing education opportunities and send weekly updates via email.
- Manage the humane educator volunteer program including the recruitment, training, mentoring, scheduling and continuing education for these volunteers. Maintain accurate and up-to-date volunteer files, including CGC-dog vaccination and certification records.
- Supervise the management, coordination and volunteer staffing of any events, classes or meetings related to education efforts.
- Develop, coordinate and maintain the HSM's database of Missouri teachers, schools and educational opportunities (i.e., home school associations, teacher's groups, etc.).
- Initiate and coordinate the education component of our website with our marketing coordinator.
- Plan and execute special projects and promotions for the Education Department.
- Supervise the daily operation of office and oversee the work of the Education Administration Assistant.
- Answer and respond to phone calls, emails and requests within a 24 hour period. Direct calls to specific areas and proper staff members when necessary.
- Coordinate education activities with other departments when necessary to help ensure that education events, programs and projects are operational and completed by deadline.
- Ensure a positive relationship and a cooperative working environment between departments and staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Education.
- Perform all duties in a manner which ensures a positive image of the HSMO
Preferred Candidate will Possess:
- Bachelor's Degree in Education
- Minimum of 2 years teaching experience in classroom or camp setting
- Proven skill in lesson creation and presentation
- Proven success with program management
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
