Position Title: Children’s Ministry Contractor (Sundays & Special Events)

Classification: Contractor

Hours: Sundays (approx. 4-5 hours each Sunday; 9:30am to 2pm) plus as needed for special events (weeknights, Saturday, etc.)

Role Summary: Hunger Church Atlanta is a non-denominational, multi-generational church committed to teaching, training, and transforming individuals and families into Christ’s likeness and empowering them to fulfill their God-given purpose. The direct role will be under Gen Alpha, one of the ministries within Phases. Gen Alpha’s mission is to partner with families to lead their children to know God personally through Jesus Christ, to mature in the character and likeness of Christ, and to put their faith into practice in every area of their lives. We are seeking an experienced childcare worker to lead our Sunday children’s program and support special events (holiday celebrations, Parent-Nite Out, ministry outreach, etc.). This person will partner with current church volunteers to deliver engaging Bible-based teaching, age-appropriate activities, and maintain a standard of excellence and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and facilitate the Sunday children’s ministry for assigned age group between newborn to 7th grade during the church service, including welcoming children, gathering the group, delivering a Bible story/lesson, maintaining classroom environment, and coordinating craft/activity/game.
• Prepare and teach age-appropriate Bible lessons aligned with the church’s teaching schedule and curriculum.
• Adhere to ministry policies and child-safety protocols.
• Create and maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment for children; includes a background check and adherence to state and Hunger Church Atlanta's child protection procedures and policies.
• Lead or support special-event programming (for example: Easter activities, Christmas programs, Parent-Nite Out, outreach events, etc.). This may include weekdays, weeknights, Saturday, and times outside of Sunday worship periods.
• Communicate with parents/guardians as needed—greeting, check-in/out process, ministry updates, and ensuring any allergies/special needs are noted and addressed.
• Maintain inventory of supplies, children’s ministry materials, crafts, and ensure replenishment as needed.
• Participate in occasional planning meetings and training opportunities.
• Uphold the core values and doctrinal statements of the church, modeling Christian character and supporting the church’s mission of making disciples and raising children in faith.

Education:

• High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

• Teaching: 1 year (Preferred)
• Childcare: 1 year (Preferred)

Qualifications (Required):

• Minimum of 1 year experience in children’s ministry, child-care, education system, or youth work (pre-school through elementary). OR, currently enrolled in an elementary or similar education degree program.
• Strong Bible knowledge and ability to communicate age-appropriate Christian teaching in an engaging way.
• Experience supervising, teaching, and providing care for students.
• Good organizational skills, ability to plan ahead, manage activities, materials, and schedules.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills—with leadership, co-workers, children, parents, volunteers, and church staff.
• Commitment to children’s safety and ministry excellence (familiarity or willingness to be trained in child-safety background checks, first aid, check-in systems).
• Ability to work Sunday mornings (and occasional evenings/Saturdays for special events).
• A team player with a servant-heart attitude, and alignment with the church’s non-denominational faith values.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification or training in early or childhood education.
• Experience with church children’s ministry technology (e.g., check-in software). (Will train all new hires.)
• Creative skills for crafts, games, drama, and multimedia for children.

Job Types: Part-time, Contract, Temporary

Pay: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 5.0 per week
