Medical Assistant
Summary:
Clinical position involving daily hands-on patient care and EMR usage in preparing clinic patients for visit with the healthcare providers. Physical requirements include walking and assisting patients as needed in safe transfers to clinic rooms daily. Compassion, professionalism, clear and effective communication, and customer service skills are required in all interactions with patients, caretakers, and employees. Individual must be dependable, punctual, and follow all clinic policies at all times.
Qualifications and Requirements
o Able to walk many steps and assist patients in moving as needed
o Clear, polite, and professional verbal skills
o Attention in details of patients’ self-reports and meticulous documentation of information in EMR
o Demonstrates basic ability in obtaining vital signs, performing basic clinic testing and operation and cleaning of equipment safely
o Proper use of PPE and infection control precautions
o Respectfully accept direction when given
o Able to conjointly work with administration and other staff
Duties, Responsibilities, and Expectations
o Correctly identify patients
o Responsible for prepping patients and their EMR for each office and each telehealth appointment with accurate and detailed required information prior to the providers start of visit which includes but is not limited to the following:
o Rooming the patient in a timely manner, weight, vital signs, detailed/accurate/current medication list and verification of pharmacy, updated vaccine list, and update/review of medical history
o Maintain the disinfection and cleanliness of the exam rooms at all times.
o Maintain the disinfection, cleanliness, and maintenance of equipment.
o Maintaining the scanning of documents for the EMR
o Preparing information for transplant packets requested by nurses in a timely manner
o Help in maintaining inventory of medical supplies
o Help in maintaining exam rooms and bathrooms are stocked appropriately.
o Answering the phone as needed.
o Dress is clean, neat, and within clinic policy at all times
