Job Summary
Provides receptionist services for the Emergency Department and Outpatient treatment area.

Essential Job Functions
Interviews the patient/guardian to accurately obtain and appropriately record the necessary information to complete the admitting process in a courteous and efficient manner.
- Provides clerical support on the unit.
- Assists nurses and ED providers with patient care and transfers within the hospital and to other facilities.
- Acts as a backup for the switchboard operator for breaks.
Other Job Duties:
- Assumes responsibility for professional self-development. Participates in in-services, educational programs, unit meetings (attend a minimum of 80% of unit meetings per year), and mandatory meetings
- Assist the Coordinator of the ED/OP as needed
- Assists in the orientation and development of personnel according to department needs and as directed

Requirements
- High school graduate or GED equivalent required
- Broad background or training in medical office procedures and standards and knowledge of computer software preferred
- Able to communicate congenially and in a professional manner with co-workers, families, and physicians
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work independently
- BLS required
- Cross training required
- High quality phone etiquette and customer service skills required

- Risks of exposure to communicable or infectious disease
