RESPONSIBILITIES:
Huston-Tillotson University and the Department of Kinesiology invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position at the instructor level rank beginning fall 2022. This is an academic year appointment with the possibility of reappointment. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses that support the kinesiology curriculum and working effectively with the kinesiology faculty. Course load will include, but not limited to physical activity courses, health and wellness courses, as well as other discipline-specific courses. Commitment to diversity and social justice is highly desirable.
Other responsibilities include student recruitment and retention, university, and community service, among others. Specific teaching responsibilities include to prepare for teaching assignments and present class material which is content, challenging and thought provoking; possess both a theoretical and practical knowledge of current trends and issues in the field/profession; prepare comprehensive syllabi and outlines for each course taught; maintain at least 10 office hours each week; attend regularly scheduled faculty meetings; serve on standing committees and perform related duties as requested by the Kinesiology Chair, Dean of the academic unit, the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs, or the President.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A master's degree or higher in kinesiology or a related field is required. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate the university's IDEAL core values (integrity, diversity, excellence, accountability, and leadership); the ability to teach face-to-face and online courses; effective communication and interpersonal skills; sensitivity to academic and cultural diversity; prior teaching experience; and a commitment to the mission and vision of the University. Previous work in kinesiology related areas is preferred.
