RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Essential:

 

  • Provide mental health services for HutchCC students including crisis intervention and personal counseling.
  • Provide planning, coordination, and oversight of daily activities for the student food pantry. Utilize resources as required by grant funds. Select and supervise student employees to staff food pantry.
  • Teach select classes, as assigned, utilizing face to face and online delivery methods. Classes may include ED105 – Success Seminar/College Orientation, ED115 – College Orientation and Career Exploration, SO103 – Stress Management, SO104 – Assertiveness Training and/or ED126 – Psychology of Happiness.
  • Provide academic, career, and financial aid advising services to students who have not declared a college major, and to students, who, according to institutional definition, are consider “at risk”.
  • Collaborate with the Student Services team to provide needed resources for students.
  • Assist with campus outreach, fairs, screening events, and celebrations.
  • Implement retention procedures including a variety of intervention services.
  • Utilize multiple delivery systems for advising including face-to-face, telephone, and online communication with students.
  • Maintain resource materials relating to advising.
  • Arrive on time for work, attend work regularly, and successfully complete the responsibilities of the position.
  • Comply with HutchCC policies, procedures, and practices.

 

Secondary:

 

  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Coordinator of Counseling and Social Work Services.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

 

  • Education: Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, Social Work, Professional Counseling or related area.
  • Licensure: Kansas licensure to diagnose and treat mental disorders.
  • Experience: Teaching and/or counseling experience preferred.
  • Build solid student relationships.
  • Adjust and adapt to a multitude of situations in the college environment.
  • Work effectively with student populations traditionally under-represented (i.e., ethnic minority, persons with disabilities, and/or non-traditional students).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Work with staff, administration, and others in a professional manner.
  • Physical activities will include visual acuity to view a computer terminal; use appropriate judgment and apply tact and courtesy in difficult situations; understand words and respond effectively and appropriately; sedentary, indoor work environment.
  • Mental requirements include the ability to learn and comprehend basic instructions about the position.
  • Physical and mental qualifications must be performed with or without a reasonable accommodation.

SALARY and STATUS:

 

The salary for this position is determined as per the Hiring Salary Schedule in the 2023-2024 Master Agreement. This full-time faculty position is 10 months annual (190 days per year), tenure track, benefit eligible, and exempt.
