What are the responsibilities and job description for the Housekeeping Supervisor position at Hyatt?
The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for inspecting the hotel guestrooms and public areas to ensure they exceed the Hyatt standards of cleanliness. They are responsible for overseeing shifts when housekeeping management is not present. This includes but is not limited to: communicating needs for areas that stand for opportunities of improvement to housekeeping team members, and inspecting guestrooms to report all calls for necessary maintenance repairs. The Housekeeping Supervisor is tasked with following through on guest concerns and compensation when necessary, and is responsible for communicating the outcome to the housekeeping and front office management teams. They are responsible for effectively leading a team and delegating tasks to team members as necessary. They are ultimately responsible for supporting the needs of and completing tasks given to them by the Housekeeping Management team.
JOB SUMMARY
- Inspect guest rooms and public areas after being cleaned by housekeeping team members to ensure quality standards
- Assist housekeeping management with day-to-day operations
- Assist in establishing department standards and procedures for work of housekeeping team members
- Submit any maintenance issues to Engineering & Management via work orders such as painting, repairs, furnishings, relocation of equipment, and reallocation of space
- Enforce hotel policies and procedures at all times
- Ensure Hyatt quality of service are facilitated during all guest and team member interactions
- Assist in ensuring housekeeping operations are staffed appropriately for requested days, such as ensuing shifts called off for are covered by a team members of that trained area.
- Monitor and maintain level of cleanliness in rooms, storage areas, laundry, restrooms and public areas
- Compile and report accurate status of guest rooms to Front Office
- Uphold standard hotel procedures for receiving lost and found items, ensuring they are logged properly, and securing those items in department possession
- Prepare requested rooms designated for VIP arrivals, and requested rooms to be presented to sales clients for future hotel reservations
REQUIREMENTS
Physical demands while performing the duties of this job, the Housekeeping Supervisor:
- is frequently required to stand, walk, communicate and listen
- could be required to sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, stand and walk long periods of time. In other words, this is a mobile job position.
- could be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Communication
- Excellent verbal and written skills required
- Comprehension of the spoken and written Spanish language is helpful for this job position
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public is essential
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
Other Requirements
- Minimum 1-2 years work experience in leadership with in Hotel Rooms Operation strongly preferred
- Flexible Availability to include mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
