We are presently searching for a Designer for our Houston studio. The Designer, working under general supervision of a Senior Designer or Project Manager, provides design support primarily in project administration, presentations, concept design through design development, and contract documents.
Specific responsibilities will include:
• Works with team to develop architectural concepts for interior and exterior repositioning and/ or adaptive projectseas and create both presentation and construction drawings
• Works with team to develop design id
• With Senior Designer, researches and selects fixtures and finishes to use for projects
• Ensures integration into overall design
• Develop and finalize conceptual design for smaller projects
• Provides detail for interior and architectural design projects
• Develops and delivers overall design and furniture packages for both interior and exterior
• Obtains cost estimates and produces final cost estimates
• May be required to assist with support for field surveys
• Manages design budget for assigned projects
• Ensures adherence to set budget and immediately informs Senior Designer, PM and/or client of any potential variances to the budget
• May mentor the work of Junior and Intermediate Designers
• Conducts client interviews to determine space needs and requirements; good working knowledge of Affinity program tool
Qualifications:
• Graduate of architecture or design school: equivalent experience may be substituted
• 5 years’ experience in workplace design, focusing on building repositioning and adaptive re-use projects as well as corporate interior
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Extensive knowledge of design principles, workplace trends and aesthetics
• Extensive knowledge of repositioning and adaptive r-use projects
• Advance presentation skills
• Extensive knowledge of space planning, furnishings and finishes
• Advanced sketching and rendering skills
• Advanced architecture detailing skills
• Extensive knowledge of CDs and procedures
• Advanced Revit skills
• Advanced Adobe Creative Suite and Enscape skills
