What are the responsibilities and job description for the Casualty Claims Specialist position at IAT Insurance Group?
IAT has an immediate need for a Casualty Claims Specialist who can be located in one of the following IAT offices:
- Cheshire, Connecticut
- Alpharetta, Georgia
- Naperville, Illinois
- Rolling Meadows, Illinois
- Raleigh, North Carolina
- Omaha, Nebraska
Please note, IAT works on a hybrid schedule, working from the office Monday through Wednesday with the option of working remotely Thursday and Friday.
Responsibilities:
- Handle moderate to complex exposure claims relative to Commercial General Liability, Liquor Liability, Completed Operations, Commercial Auto, Garage Keepers Liability, AE&O, EPLI, Homeowners Liability and Excess Umbrella Liability based on Claim Guidelines, where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable
- Verify/analyze applicable coverage for the reported loss.
- Establish 24-hour contact and maintain appropriate contact with all involved stakeholders throughout the life of the claim file.
- Investigate each claim by gathering information, conducting interviews, taking statements, conducting website research as needed, reviewing and analyzing reports and related bills.
- Identify and address subrogation/contribution/SIU opportunities.
- Set accurate/timely loss/expense reserves in compliance with Claim Guidelines.
- Evaluate, negotiate, and authorize settlements with all stakeholders within designated authority.
- Select, direct and manage Vendors/Counsel including approval of defense budgets.
- Negotiate directly with claimants and claimant attorneys upon receipt of critical information.
- Draft correspondence, including but not limited to, coverage letters to stakeholders as required.
- Maintain resident/nonresident adjuster licenses as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Must Have:
- HS degree/GED with 5 years of relevant claims experience
- Experience handling commercial claims
- Appropriate claims license
- Strong customer service skills
- Experience handling 3rd party claims
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Excellent oral and written communication skills to communicate internally and externally
- Excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and customer service skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to set priorities and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- To qualify, all applicants must be authorized to work in the United States and must not require, now or in the future, VISA sponsorship for employment purposes.
Preferred to Have:
- Associate/Bachelors Degree
- Litigation exposure

Compensation:
Please note, the annual gross salary range associated with this posting is $56,550 – $89,350. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base salary for this position. The total compensation will include a base salary, performance-based bonus opportunities, 401(K) match, profit sharing opportunities and more. Actual salaries will vary based on factors such as a candidate qualifications, skills, and competencies related to this specific role.
