IMC is currently hiring a Clinic LPN - Jeanerette Rural Health Clinic, who under
the immediate supervision of the Nurse Practitioner or the Physician, will
perform tasks as assigned in relation to provision of health care services in
an outpatient clinic setting, interacting effectively with patients,
significant others, and other health care team members.
EDUCATION
Graduation from an Accredited School of
Practical Nursing
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS
Current LPN licensure in the state of
Louisiana CPR certification preferred
TRAINING/EXPERIENCE
Experience working in an outpatient
setting is desired but not required. Family Planning and Medicaid; Wellness;
& Vaccine experience preferred.
JOB KNOWLEDGE
Basic assessment of all age groups. Proficient in medication administration. Knowledge of abnormal vital signs.
PRINCIPLE TASKS/DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Applies the nursing process to each
patient and implements age sensitive nursing actions. Obtains age-appropriate intake
assessment data on each patient. Assists in determining priority of
services provided to patients. Administers medications and treatments
to patients as ordered, considering age-specific administration techniques,
dosages, and method of approach. Screens patient phone calls (at the
office and on call) and prioritizes for further action by NP or MD. Assists in patient/family education,
providing and using age-appropriate information. Documents all activities appropriately
in patient chart. Collects specimens for lab tests
following OSHA, universal blood and body fluid precautions, and performs CLIA
waived lab tests according to clinic policy/procedure, while considering
age-specific ways to deal with apprehension of the patient. Utilizes age-appropriate venipuncture
procedures. Properly utilizes and maintains
equipment and supplies. Assists the NP with exams, dressing
changes, etc. as necessary. Maintains open communication with all
team members and assists them as needed. Maintains a safe patient environment
including using infection control principles. Recognizes emergency situations and
responds appropriately. Assists in orientations of new employees
and staff education. Participates in Quality Assurance
activities. Follows the Policies and Procedures of
the hospital and clinic. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills
necessary to provide care based on physical, psycho-social, educational,
safety, and related criteria appropriate to the age of the patients served.
