Lightcone Ventures is seeking a Director of Venture Investments. The Director of Venture Investments will support, execute and oversee Lightcone Ventures investment activities, including the creation, structuring, and administration of Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs). Additionally, the Director will assist in developing and launching a venture fund, including establishing operational infrastructure, processes, and best practices.
This position is ideal for an entrepreneurial, highly organized individual with demonstrated experience in venture capital, private equity, or fund operations, and strong knowledge of investment vehicle management and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Executing Venture Investment Strategy
● Identify, evaluate, and source promising investment opportunities aligned with investment criteria and strategic focus.
● Build and maintain a robust deal pipeline through proactive outreach, industry events, networking, and collaboration with other venture investors.
● Manage and lead comprehensive due diligence processes, including financial analysis, market research, competitive benchmarking, and assessment of management teams.
● Present structured investment recommendations and analysis to leadership and investment committee.
Oversee SPV & Fund Operations
● Structure and manage SPV formation and operations, coordinating with legal counsel, fund administrators, and other service providers to ensure timely and compliant entity formation, documentation, and closings.
● Manage investor lifecycle and communications, including onboarding, data rooms, KYC/AML compliance workflows, capital calls, and LP communications and reporting.
● Ensure regulatory, financial, and compliance oversight by working with internal teams and external partners on fund accounting, audit and tax processes.
Fund Planning
● Collaborate with leadership to formulate fund thesis, investment strategy, fundraising materials, and diligence frameworks.
● Select, implement, and manage fund administration platforms, CRM systems, portfolio management tools, and financial reporting software.
● Develop internal processes and workflows required for the successful launch of a venture fund.
● Work closely with legal and tax professionals to structure funds and draft organizational documents (LPA, PPM, subscription agreements).
Portfolio Support
● Actively engage with portfolio companies, providing strategic guidance and operational support as needed.
● Facilitate introductions to relevant networks, advisors, and potential customers or partners to support portfolio growth.
● Monitor portfolio company performance, proactively identify potential issues, and coordinate responses to address challenges and opportunities.
