Manager, Sample Management - ICON Bioanalytical
Job Profile Summary - To provide leadership to effectively coordinate and manage the full chain of custody processes of sample management including, but not limited to, shipping & receiving, accessioning, and disposition.
Job Description -

- As a Manager, the employee is expected to recognize the importance of and create a culture of process improvement with a focus on streamlining our processes adding value to our business and meeting client needs.
- Travel (approximately 10%) domestic and/or international. Due to the nature of this position it may be required for the employee to travel. Therefore, dependent on the employee's location, the employee may be required to possess a valid Driver's license and passport.
Function and Responsibilities
- Manages the activities and staff of the sample management department within quality and budgetary guidelines.
- Ensure proactive interaction with internal and external clients, troubleshooting client issues including manifest and discrepancy resolution.
- Lead regular review of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Participate in client or regulatory audits with the Quality Assurance department, as required.
- Manage sample control group supervisor(s) to ensure process for monitoring/maintaining sample receipt, log-in, distribution system and control system is robust and chain of custody is controlled.
- Design and supervise an efficient process for sample disposition, ensuring procedures are followed for accurate and timely storage billing or return/discard.
- Monitor storage space efficiency and manage storage location inventory.
- Maintain appropriate shipping and receiving permits
- Inform senior management of any significant issues requiring intervention/attention, provide metrics for efficient usage of staff resources and team deliverables.
- To undertake other reasonably related duties as may be assigned from time to time.
- To maintain a positive working environment ensuring staff motivation in particular periods of high workloads. To maintain low levels of staff turnover by actively contributing to the retention of key individuals.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Accuracy and good attention to detail.
- The ability to work in conformance with standard operating procedures.
- To be able to keep accurate, legible records and recognise the need to handle these records and all other information in line with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
- To comply with health and safety legislation and be aware of the responsibilities of the employer and following from that, the employee in that context.
- A minimum of five (5) years' experience in a related position, with a minimum of two (2) years in a supervisory role.
- AS degree or high school diploma with seven (7) years of relevant experience, or Bachelor's degree with two (2) years of relevant experience.
