Idlewild Country Club, a private country club nestled in secluded surroundings just 25 miles south of Chicago, is seeking a professional and driven Banquet Manager to oversee all banquet and event operations. This leadership role is central to delivering exceptional service for our members and guests during weddings, golf outings, private parties, and club-sponsored events.

Idlewild’s 18-hole, par-72 championship golf course offers a beautiful and challenging experience for players of all skill levels. Position Overview

The Banquet Manager reports directly to the General Manager and works in close collaboration with the Executive Chef, Bar Manager, and Service Manager to ensure flawless execution of all banquet events. This role is responsible for managing setup, service, and breakdown for events, leading the banquet team, and maintaining the highest standards of hospitality and efficiency.

We are seeking a hands-on, motivated professional with a passion for service excellence and strong leadership abilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all banquet functions, ensuring smooth execution from start to finish
• Coordinate daily with the Executive Chef, Bar Manager, and Service Manager to align food, beverage, and service components for each event
• Lead, train, and manage banquet captains, servers, and bartenders to uphold club service standards
• Conduct pre-event meetings to communicate details and expectations with banquet staff
• Ensure banquet spaces are set accurately and on schedule according to Banquet Event Orders (BEOs)
• Respond to member and guest needs during events with a focus on satisfaction and professionalism
• Manage scheduling, staffing levels, and day-to-day performance of banquet personnel
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment
• Monitor inventory of banquet supplies and coordinate needs with purchasing
• Provide on-site leadership during all major functions, including weekends and holidays
• Support recruitment, onboarding, and performance evaluations of banquet staff

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of banquet or event management experience in a country club, hotel, or high-end hospitality setting
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and direct a team
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Proven ability to manage multiple events simultaneously
• Deep understanding of hospitality service standards and banquet operations
• Familiarity with BEOs and event coordination processes
• Hospitality-related degree preferred; equivalent experience considered
• Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Pay: $46,617.59 - $51,324.41 per year
