Mining Sales Engineer

Headquartered in Tempe, AZ, IEC Supply, LLC is an electrical automation and controls distributor providing products and services to engineers and technicians in the mining, utilities, machine building, semiconductor, defense, food processing, medical equipment, and government sectors.  We have an open requirement for a Mining Sales Engineer to support the growing industrial base in Arizona.

Candidates must possess excellent communications, relationship building, critical thinking and analytical skills. Position requires both independent and team working environment with the opportunity to have an impact on the success of the company. You will need to have proficiency in Microsoft Office, good email, phone etiquette, and service-oriented attitude. 

Sales Engineer Job Description

The responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following: 

• Develop a deep technical understanding of automation hardware portfolios: medium/low‑voltage VFDs, motor control, sensors, networking, and enclosure systems specific to mining applications.

• Engage OEMs and end‑user mining customers to consult on challenges and propose tailored automation solutions.

• Deliver product demos and system presentations—often alongside IEC Supply automation specialists

• Grow business within assigned mining accounts and identify new prospects.

• Maintain strong ties with manufacturer partners (e.g. Danfoss, Eaton, Phoenix Contact, Rittal) to uncover opportunities and technical support.

• Offer post‑sale technical and application support—coordinating with IEC’s engineering specialists or manufacturer engineers when needed.

• Use IEC’s CRM system to log activity, opportunities, and updates in support of revenue and gross‑margin targets.

• Monthly travel to mining sites, as well as quarterly trade shows and partner events across the Southwest.

Works under general supervision and directly reporting to the Mining Business Development Manager

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent work experience).
• Proven experience in a technical sales or sales engineering role, specifically within the mining or heavy industrial automation space.
• Familiarity with mining processes, equipment, and safety standards is highly advantageous.
