Job Description IHI Power is currently hiring a skilled Grader Operator to support mining operations at our Utah coal mine. The Grader Operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment to maintain haul roads, access roads, and work areas to ensure safe and efficient transportation and site conditions. Job Summary The Grader Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining heavy equipment, specifically graders, to level and maintain roads, ramps, and other areas within the mine site, ensuring safe and efficient operations. They also assist in various tasks related to the mine's infrastructure and equipment. Job Functions Operates Dozers, Dump Trucks, Loaders, Graders, and other machinery necessary to maintain site conditions. Operate motor grader equipment to build, shape, smooth, and maintain haul roads, ramps, and other work surfaces throughout the mine site. Perform pre-operational equipment checks and ensure equipment is safe and operational. Grade surfaces to correct elevations, slopes, and drainage specifications. Remove excess material, fill low spots, and create proper road crowns and ditches to support drainage and traffic safety. Work closely with other heavy equipment operators, truck drivers, and supervisors to coordinate activities. Maintain a clean and safe working environment by removing debris and performing routine grader maintenance. Record operational data and report mechanical issues or unsafe conditions promptly. Comply with all MSHA, OSHA, environmental safety regulations and company policies. Assist in training new operators or supporting other operational duties when needed. Education and Experience – An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered High School diploma; GED or equivalent level of work experience. Valid Driver’s License Required 1+ years of experience operating motor graders in a mining, construction, or industrial setting. Strong understanding of road-building techniques, soil compaction, grading slopes, and surface drainage. Proven ability to operate equipment with precision in tight or uneven areas. Strong knowledge of safety procedures related to hauling hazardous or regulated materials. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a safety-first environment. Experience with a variety of trucks is a plus Experience with crude and pneumatic trailers is a plus Successful completion of applicable Pre-Employment drug testing and formal background checks. Must be able to perform the physical demands of the assigned position. Valid CDL Class A or B is a plus MSHA Surface Miner Certification is a plus Knowledge, Skills and Abilities which may be representative, but not all-inclusive of those commonly associated with this position. Must possess basic math skills, good verbal communications skills, and be proficient with the use of power and precision tools. Must be cooperative with those he/she contacts in this work and have the ability to work without direct supervision. Must know the hazards involved and the safety precautions to be practiced in the operation and maintenance of power plant equipment and machinery. Work within and insure strict adherence to all safety practices and procedures. Must be able to respond to audio alarms and variations of sound. Basic data entry/computer skills Work as a team. Must be able to pool our knowledge and energy to work in tandem to completely understand and productively respond to all of the business challenges. Work Environment – Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job. Protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, and other equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties. Working with hazardous materials may be required. Requires working shifts with weekend and holiday work as required by schedules, workload and plant conditions.
