The Nursing Admission Counselor is responsible for developing and implementing programs and activities designed to enroll new students in Illinois College’s nursing programs. As a member of the Enrollment team, counselors participate in a full range of recruitment and admission efforts including individual meetings, event programming, group presentations, application review, partnership development, and affinity building.
Essential Functions

- Counsel prospective nursing students and their families as they seek to learn about the value of an Illinois College education.
- Realize an assigned recruitment goal for nursing enrollment.
- Meet weekly goals for counselor-initiated completed contacts. Respond to in-person, phone and electronic admissions inquiries in a timely manner and at times that are appropriate for different time zones.
- Work closely with the faculty in nursing to ensure the nursing program is distinctive in the market and sustainable.
- Assist with on- and off-campus recruiting events and conduct information sessions.
- Provide enlightened hospitality to create lasting connections with prospective nursing students, families and external constituencies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree, required.
- 3 years of work experience required. Experience working in a healthcare setting is a plus.
- Dynamic public speaker with excellent writing and interpersonal skills
- Ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships, engage in creative problem-solving, and extend enlightened hospitality when working with others.
- Intercultural competence and the ability to work with diverse populations
- Must be willing to work evenings and weekends with advanced notice
- Must have a valid driver’s license and evidence of insurability
- Must be able to lift and carry 30 pounds, reach above shoulders, bend at the waist, stand for extended periods of time.
