Position Overview
Under general directi on, as a non-administrati ve Illinois licensed Physician, provides a full range of psychiatric/medicalassessments and treatments to pati ents. Conducts examinati ons, makes diagnosis, and treats pati ents. Serves as amember of the treatment team. Answers calls for emergencies. Performs and writes psychiatric evaluati ons. Evaluates,prepares, and att ends court testi money.
Job Responsibilities
1. As a non-administrati ve Illinois licensed Physician, provides a full range of psychiatric/medical assessments andtreatments to pati ents. As a primary physician specializing in Psychiatry, provides comprehensive psychiatric treatmentfor all pati ents admitt ed to the Acute Care Services. Conducts examinati ons, makes diagnosis, and treats pati ents.Completes a thorough psychiatric assessment on each pati ent as well as providing and/or monitoring on-goingindividual psychotherapy, group therapy and milieu therapy. Performs and writes psychiatric evaluati ons and writesprogram notes. Facilitates and provides guidance in the development of treatment plans that represent a collaborati veapproach towards treatment of pati ents.
2. Makes periodic and direct evaluati on of pati ent’s general and psychiatric progress and response to treatment anddocuments same in the medical record, writes physician’s orders.
3. Serves as a member of the treatment team and a treatment team leader, coordinates the development of pati enttreatment plans i.e., review and evaluati on of pati ent’s treatment, discharge planning and milieu recommendati ons.
4. Parti cipates acti vely on medical staff committ ees, att ends monthly medical staff meeti ngs, all Department ofHuman Services (DHS) and Chicago-Read Mental Health Center mandatory training and parti cipates in all conti nuingmedical educati on acti viti es at the facility.
5. Provides psychiatric guidance to non-psychiatric physicians, other clinicians, and nursing staff .
6. Performs other duti es as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duti es enumeratedabove.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Requires an Illinois license to practi ce medicine and completi on of an approved residency in psychiatry.
