Essential Function 1
45% 1. Maintains interior cleanliness of the facility.
- Strips, scrubs, mops, waxes, and polishes floors.
- Dusts and polishes furniture.
- Vacuums and spot clean carpeting.
- Collects trash and hauls from building to trash receptacle.
- Washes windows and woodwork.
- Cleans drinking fountains and restrooms, including toilets and fixtures, and fills towel, soap and tissue dispensers.
15% 2. Performs exterior maintenance of the facility.
- Sweeps and cleans walks.
- Shovels snow from walkways as needed.
- Operates government motor vehicle and/or power equipment for lawn maintenance and snow removal.
- Mows lawns with push and/or riding mower, rakes leaves, trims vegetation and cares for landscaping.
- Keeps the outside premises neat and orderly.
Essential Function Continued
15% 3. Performs routine maintenance of the facility.
- Performs preventative maintenance on lawn care equipment, i.e., push & riding mowers, weed eaters, etc. Replaces light bulbs, as needed.
- Spot paints.
- Changes and cleans mechanical unit filters.
- Makes minor repairs to facilities plumbing, mechanical and electrical fixtures.
10% 4. Cares and accounts for janitorial supplies and equipment.
- Stores and keeps inventory of supplies and equipment.
- Notifies supervisor when inventory is low.
- Operates government motor vehicle to transport maintenance supplies and equipment to various on-site locations.
Essential Function Continued
5% 5. Performs routine maintenance of the facility.
- Loads and unloads trucks.
- Set up and takes down tables, chairs, etc.
- Moves office furniture.
- Lifts and carries moderate to heavy items up to 80lbs on a recurring basis.
5% 6. Performs building security duties such as checking for fires and prowlers; checks windows and doors.
5% 7. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of high school.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefers one year of maintenance work experience preferably associated with the building/mechanical trades and/or heavy equipment operation.
- Prefers elementary knowledge of building cleaning methods.
- Prefers the ability to follow simple oral and written instructions.
Employment Condition
- Requires the ability to pass a DoD background investigation and obtain a DoD Common Access Card (CAC) prior to hire or transfer.
- Requires travelling to other state facilities using state owned vehicle.
- Requires the ability to lift and carry 80 pounds, il e., heavy boxes, supplies, etc.; ability to move heavy furniture and equipment.
- Requires being on feet for long periods of time; the ability to climb stairs and ladders.
- Requires being on hands and knees for extended periods of time.
- Requires the ability to withstand extreme temperature changes.
- Requires exposure to a variety of chemical cleaning agents.
- Requires a valid driver’s license in the appropriate classification as required by law.
