Duties & Responsibilities
- Pharmacy Operation
· Provide oversight and direction regarding all activities and all employees as they relate to the practice of pharmacy while serving as the Pharmacist.
· Dispense pharmaceuticals in accordance with Federal and State of Illinois policies and regulations. - Compounding Medications
· Certify cleanroom personnel and sterile compounding competency.
· Compound sterile and non-sterile medications as needed. - Consultation and Collaboration
· Provide faculty, staff, students, and clients with pharmaceutical information regarding the clinical aspects of the pharmacy.
· Research and respond to drug information questions posed by faculty, staff, students, and outside clinicians. - Education and Instruction
· Provide clinical instruction to house officers and students related to pharmaceuticals.
· Participate in teaching visiting pharmacy students and Parkland veterinary technician students during rotations at the VTH.
· Assist with training of incoming faculty, house officers and staff.
· Develop Pharmacist corner monthly articles.
· Update Canvas training for: Clinical (Clinicians, Interns, Residents), Dispensary Staff, Students, Veterinary Technicians, Locum and Guests - Other duties as assigned to further the mission of the unit.
