Overview

The Sr. Manager, Process Support, reporting to the Sr. Director, Operations, leads the Process Support group in conducting Root Cause Investigations for product performance issues arising from various sources such as customer complaints, manufacturing deviations, and out-of-specification test results. Collaborates with Quality to develop and execute strategies aimed at enhancing the quality and efficiency of investigations, as well as the implementation and effectiveness of CAPA's. Responsibilities include day-to-day management and resource allocation aligned with corporate objectives, performance management, strategic planning for team support functions, budget oversight, mentorship, and active participation in cross-functional teams for initiatives such as new product development, continuous improvement, and others as deemed necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage investigations into complaints, deviations, non-conformances, and process improvements ensuring standards for objective and through documentation, timeliness, and utilization of scientific and statistical rationale are met.
  • Provide oversight and mentorship for investigation techniques, experimental design & execution, data analysis, development of data-supported conclusions, and quality documentation.
  • Work with cross-functional team members in the development and implementation of process improvements or corrective/preventive actions to deviations and product performance issues that are well supported by data.
  • Drive cross-functional awareness in the team to ensure effective and efficient work with other department members as well as ensuring appropriate feedback from key stakeholders is incorporated in study designs, protocols and reports.
  • Actively participate on new product development core teams representing Operations. This will include gathering and providing input on Operations risks and capabilities for new products and contributing to required deliverables.
  • Effectively communicate significant issues or developments and identify solutions.
  • Drive the timeliness of investigations and projects. Review and monitor quality metrics.
  • Manage performance of individuals inclusive of onboarding and training of employees, establishing group and individual objectives, providing career growth and development opportunities, performing performance assessments, and taking disciplinary action if needed.
  • Develop a culture of continuous improvement and establish strong relationships with other functions, e.g. Product Support, Quality, R&D, etc.
  • Participate in strategic resource identification and monitoring including budget, personnel, time, equipment, etc. based on business priorities.

Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree (PhD) or equivalent; or more than ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (Management has the discretion of substituting relevant work experience for a degree and/or making exceptions to the years of experience requirement.)
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the highest level of inquiries or complaints. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with variety of abstract and concrete variables.
