Position Title: School-Based Therapist (Clayton County Schools)

Location: Clayton County, GA (Elementary, Middle, and High Schools)
Position Overview:
The School-Based Therapist is a key member of Impact Therapy's School-Based Mental Health Program. This role is based in a local Clayton County school and is responsible for delivering therapy services to students and families. Services include individual, family, and group therapy, as well as case coordination and collaboration with school staff to support student well-being. The ideal candidate is passionate about youth mental health, clinically skilled, and comfortable working independently in a school setting.
Primary Responsibilities:
Clinical Services & Assessment:
- Provide individual and family counseling to students with mental health and behavioral concerns.
- Facilitate group therapy and psychoeducational groups as needed.
- Utilize CBT, DBT, play therapy, and other evidence-based modalities to support emotional regulation, behavior management, and social-emotional development.
- Evaluate and document clinical progress toward treatment goals.
Collaboration & Coordination:
- Serve as the clinical liaison between Impact Therapy and assigned school(s) in Clayton County.
- Coordinate referrals and intake processes with school personnel, parents, and guardians.
- Participate in team meetings, IEPs, and student support discussions as needed.
- Consult with teachers and school staff to support trauma-informed practices and behavioral interventions.
- Link families to community-based resources, DFCS, primary care providers, and other supports as appropriate.
Documentation & Compliance:
- Complete all documentation in accordance with Impact Therapy, Medicaid, and school district standards.
- Maintain accurate, timely case notes, treatment plans, and assessments in the EHR system.
- Track outcomes and monitor progress to support data-driven decisions and accountability.
Professional Conduct & Expectations:
- Maintain confidentiality, ethical standards, and mandated reporting duties per Georgia law.
- Attend regular clinical supervision, staff meetings, and professional development trainings.
- Support a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for students and school staff.
- Represent Impact Therapy with professionalism and cultural sensitivity.
- Communicate effectively with all stakeholders (students, families, school personnel, agency leadership).
- Maintain active licensure, liability insurance, and any required credentials.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field.
- Associate licensure (e.g., LMSW, APC) or full licensure (LCSW, LPC, LMFT) in the state of Georgia preferred.
- 1-2 years of experience working with children/adolescents in school or community-based settings.
- Ability to work independently and manage a flexible caseload.
- Strong communication, time management, and interpersonal skills.
- Must have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and access to a laptop or tablet.
