POSITION SUMMARY
The Employment Specialist is responsible for providing community-based employment services to our PawsAbilities students. Employment Specialist's essential job duties include assisting the PawsAbilities student with refining employment skills, interview skills, development of resumes and/or master applications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Develop an employment plan for each student that identifies strengths, skills and barriers and identify steps to overcome barriers for employment goals.
- Develop and maintain lasting relationships with employers and other relevant community partners and resources.
- Includes calls and faces to face meetings with potential employers.
- Assists in preparing students for successful employment and retention (interview skills, developing resume and application), identifying individual needs and skills.
- Utilizes professional judgment and decision-making in regard to aspects of employment services and implementation of assessment.
- Provides on-site job analysis, consultation, and recommendations for worksite and job modifications when appropriate.
- Instructs students in job duties and coaching as needed.
- Advocates and intervenes for students with employers consistent with student needs and abilities when requested.
- Works as a member of a team, insuring student goals are met and reviewing the goals of each student with the team.
- Attends regularly scheduled employment team meetings.
- Other duties and/or responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

Education/Certifications: *
- Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.
- Active Driver's license and minimum state-required automobile insurance required.
- CPR and First Aid Certification, a plus but not required.

Experience Required: *
- 1 to 2 years prior experience preferred.
- Experience working with the intellectual and developmental disability population.
- Knowledge of working with Rubric systems.

Skills/Abilities: *
- Excellent verbal and written skills.
- The ability to establish and maintain positive relationships.
- The ability to use the company vehicle.
- Knowledge of basic computer software with experience in Microsoft Outlook.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
