Summary

The Director, Impact & Knowledge Management will design and implement strategies to evaluate program outcomes, enhance organizational learning, and improve decision-making through evidence-based insights. The incumbent will play a critical role in evaluating and enhancing the impact of IS' programs and initiatives. This role will include the development and maintenance of systems for data collection, impact evaluation, and knowledge sharing to ensure continuous alignment with our mission and vision. Independent Sector is currently operating in a hybrid model with Tuesdays/Wednesdays in the office.

Essential Job Functions

  • Design and implement a comprehensive impact measurement framework to assess program effectiveness and organizational outcomes.
  • Develop and manage tools and processes for data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Use qualitative and quantitative methods to evaluate the effectiveness of programs, campaigns, and initiatives.
  • Generate regular impact reports, dashboards, and presentations for internal and external audiences. Communicate impact results and insights to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Oversee the processes and tools for knowledge facilitation, collection, and sharing.
  • Ensure that valuable insights and best practices are captured and utilized effectively across the organization. Promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Ensure that data and metrics inform program strategies and improvements.
  • Lead cross-departmental initiatives to ensure integration of impact and learning strategies across programs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not currently include supervisory responsibilities, however, the role may evolve to include supervisory duties in the future as organizational needs develop.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business Administration/Management, Evaluation, Social Science, Data Analytics, Knowledge Management, Nonprofit Management or related plus a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in impact measurement, program evaluation, or knowledge management, preferably in the nonprofit or philanthropic sector.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to develop and implement strategies that align with organizational goals.
  • Strong understanding of qualitative and quantitative evaluation methodologies.
  • Experience with data management tools and software (e.g., Excel, Tableau, Power BI, or other visualization tools).
  • Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Proven ability to synthesize complex data into clear, actionable insights.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and with external partners.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for diverse audiences.

Work Environment:

The work environment is a typical office environment. The noise level is usually quiet. Up to 10% travel may be required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Physical Demands:

  • Remaining in a stationary position, often sitting for prolonged periods 
  • Communicating with others to exchange information 
  • Repeating motions, like typing or answering a phone, that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers 
  • Assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned 

The selected candidate will be required to successfully pass a background check. 

Salary : $11,000 - $12,000
