The qualifications and skill requirements for this position include:
- Associate’s degree from an accredited institution;
- Proven clerical work experience;
- Documented work experience in the area of customer service;
- Knowledge of proper telephone etiquette;
- Ability to work with a diverse student population;
- Proven experience with Microsoft Office and Windows applications;
- Strong communication skills – both verbal and written;
- Ability to work independently as well as with others and be self-motivated;
- Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks at once;
- Ability to maintain strict accuracy and be detail oriented.
- As this position requires direct contact with college administrators, faculty, staff, general public and students on a regular basis, the ability to deal with all types of individuals professionally via telephone and in-person is extremely important;
- Bilingual preferred.
The requirements for this position include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting students with registration, admission, and payment processes;
- Answering questions accurately and patiently about courses, degree programs, and admissions in person, through e-mail, and during telephone conversations;
- Demonstrating the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with a diverse student population;
- Maintaining knowledge and staying abreast of any changes related to the services provided by the educational services division to facilitate a point of entry to the student;
- Reviewing and interpreting program and student information for data input into a computerized system;
- Consistently demonstrating sound professional judgment relative to individual students;
- Understanding FERPA and the importance of student confidentiality.
The specific duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
- Providing up-to-date and accurate admissions, residency, course, and program information;
- Processing applications and registrations for students enrolling in vocational, supplemental, and non-credit courses;
- Serving as a liaison for students coming in to talk with advisors, Financial Aid and Career Transfer Services;
- Assisting students in making appointments for various tests;
- Updating student information in the computer and student files;
- Processing registration and assisting counselors and advisors with various clerical tasks;
- Filing documents and completing other clerical tasks;
- Coordinating work flow to other offices;
- Assisting with campus and division projects in the recruitment, retention and success of students;
- Completing other duties and responsibilities as assigned;
- Normal working hours for this position are Monday through Friday 8am-5pm with flexibility to cover other shifts as needed;
- Flexible hours may be required during peak registration periods.
